The field was as wide as ever, though more crowded than usual. If you took care to notice, you would see the girls – meaning unofficial cheerleaders – and boys separated by a holey wire fence. Many of the boys crowded by the fence of the pack of girls, while the ones with girlfriends would confess their undying love through the holes. Those who didn't care, however, would continue their exercise and sporting. Yes, this meant a competition was coming up. Shouts of "good luck" and "do well" could be heard echoing throughout the empty space.

Shin was resting on the bleachers, a good view of the sporting ones, and the flirts, and couldn't decide whom to watch. Of course, he first looked through the crowd of girls. Of course. Any teenage boy would do that. Slowly but surely, taupe eyes wandered back to the high jumpers. A certain tall, fair-haired jumper would always manage to catch his eye. At this, he would catch himself, stop, and turn back to the girls and their curving bodies and bouncy hair. After staring a bit some more, Shin would come up with a supposition.

"They all act the same," he frowned. He grabbed for his water, and watched the girls' blush and giggle when one of the athletes said something clever, or maybe even insulting. "And why don't they feel insulted ever?"

The young Sano's eyes once again strayed to the skinny male he couldn't keep his eyes off of. He had a perfect jumping form, and would fight if someone even dared saying something like "I could take you," in any sense of the phrase. This man was aggressive, prideful, and an overall jerk.

But he wasn't like the general population of girls', who giggle and blush, worry about their hair or their makeup or clothes, or squeal and call something cute. Shin found this obnoxious and annoying.

Then he suddenly remembered something he was told, tugging at the back of his mind that just maybe guys were more attractive than women. "Shin, I didn't know your brother was a homo," said with a straight face and no hint of laughter at all. Shin promptly blushed and poured the half bottle of water over his face just to cool down. He repeated to himself slowly that he was not gay, and Izumi couldn't be gay, and maybe his father was, but that has nothing to do with this.

Shin shook his head, ridding himself of thoughts of his brother being gay, and any water left in his hair. Maybe, just maybe, he should get a girlfriend. To prove to himself, and the world, that he was not gay. But they were all so annoying, with their giggles and their curls, and their obsession with hair.

He sighed, watching that certain skinny one with the bleached hair again. He ran thin fingers through his hair as the fair-haired high jumper approached, panting, sweating, and carrying a bottle of water. He chuckled nervously, as this man took a seat. There was a bit of silence, before either one of them said something. Shin spoke first.

"I am not gay."
