"Face it, we're lost!" Weiss Schnee angrily glared at Ruby Rose.
"Hey, no one asked you to come along!" Ruby retorted.
"Hmmph! Well, there's no way we can get back to Beacon! We're just wandering around with no idea where we're going. You couldn't even find the way back if you wanted to!"
"Well, it could be an adventure," Yang, Ruby's older sister and self-proclaimed biggest fan, offered.
"Adventure, my ice!" retorted Weiss, "Have you forgotten that we are supposed to be the defenders of humanity?" Blake, the normally quiet and reserved one, chimed in, "I agree with Weiss, we need to head back." She paused as she gathered her thoughts, "...But, I've been thinking that our dorm room has become way too cramped. I've been itching to get some fresh air." She smiled at everyone as she continued, "...and we have all our weapons, and Weiss even remembered to bring an adequate supply of dust. I think we'll be fine." Team RWBY (Ruby, Weiss, Yang, and Blake) were all walking down a sidewalk. None of them knew where they were going, a fact which irritated Weiss. "Look, I'm sorry guys," said Ruby forlornly, "I just wanted to venture outside of Beacon without some pesky teacher on our tail."
"Yeah, and now we're going to be gutted alive, thanks to you," said Weiss bitterly. Ruby glared at the ground, too ashamed to make eye contact with anyone. Weiss was right. Once the dust ran out, they would be sitting ducks, with who knows how long it would take for Beacon's professors to find their rotting corpses. Suddenly, all four of them heard a voice coming from the distance. "May I have your attention please. A state of emergency has been declared for the Kanto and Chubu regions."
"State of emergency?" wondered Ruby aloud.
"Are you stupid?" snapped Weiss angrily, "That means that there's probably a grimm nearby."
"So, let's kick it's…" Yang stopped short when she realized all her friends were staring right at her.
"Don't even say it," said Weiss with a voice so cold it would have put all of her ice attacks to shame.
"Either way, we need to do something about this," said Blake, "This is our job, remember?"
"That's right," said Ruby, suddenly forgetting her melancholy demeanor, "OK, team RWBY, leeet's do this!" Now it was Yang's turn to glare. She slowly leaned over towards Ruby's ear, "Please don't let anyone hear that." Team RWBY rushed to find the location of the mysterious grimm.
Meanwhile…
"Ugh...Why'd I have to lose him at a time like this! Why now?" Misato Katsuragi drove along the street looking for a very specific individual. Unfortunately, that individual had seemingly run off. To make matters worse, there was an angel rampaging. Who knew where it was or where it would strike next. Meanwhile, a boy stood at a payphone. "We're sorry. Due to the state of the emergency that has been declared, all lines are currently out of service." The boy dejectedly hung up the phone. "It's no use. This is dumb!" The boy looked at his watch, "So much for meeting here." He pulled out a picture of a young woman, no doubt still in her 20s. The picture had a note that read, "I'll pick you up here." Beneath the note was an arrow pointing at her erm...ample female parts with a second note that read "ATTENTION HERE!" Wierdo, thought the boy to himself. Suddenly, a loud booming noise caused the boy to nearly leap out of his skin. He watched as a large, ominous figure advanced in the distance. The figure flew into the sky and descended to the ground...right next to him.
"I see it!" cried Ruby. Sure enough, there was a large monster that was landing on the ground...right next to an innocent civilian. "Don't worry. We'll catch up to him!" said Yang with determination.
"We have to see that civilian is safe!" said Blake.
"No problem," said Weiss. The team rushed to the civilian who was being assaulted by the monster. Ruby grabbed one arm and Weiss grabbed the other. "Wha- Hey!" The boy found himself suddenly being pulled by two young girls. One had hair as white as snow, the other had dark, black hair with silver eyes. Two other girls, one blonde and one black (hair, not skin) followed close behind. What's going on? The boy thought to himself as he was dragged along. These girls looked nothing like the one in the picture. Were these the ones who were to pick him up? "We need to get him to safety!" cried Ruby.
"Duh!" retorted Weiss, "But where exactly is safety?"
"Anywhere that's away from the streets has got to be better than here!" said Blake.
"There's got to be some shelters," said Yang. The team continued to evade the monster while trying to find safety for the poor, helpless boy.
Misato Katsuragi continued to search for her target. Her eyes landed on a young boy standing at a payphone. She quickly sped to his location just as a huge monster touched down right next to him. When she arrived at the location, the boy had mysteriously disappeared. Misato looked down the road to see four girls running...with two of them dragging the boy. No! Misato quickly sped up to catch the assailing party. "Um...guys? We've got trouble," said Ruby. The other members of the team looked to see a car speeding right next to them. "It could be help," offered Yang.
"Let's see what they want," said Blake. The team all stopped and the boy groaned in pain from having his arms pulled. Misato slammed on her brakes. Upon exiting her car, she saw the abductors of the boy. None of them appeared to be older than high school age. Two of them had black hair, one with dark, red highlights. One was a blonde, and the other had snow-white hair. "What are you doing?" asked Misato sternly. Blake spoke up first, "We saw this monster coming and we wanted to get him to safety." Misato's eyebrows widened. Ruby approached her timidly, "Is there anywhere you could take him?" Misato found herself dumbfounded. These girls weren't trying to kidnap the boy, they were just trying to help him. A very noble thing to do. "Um...yes...I have...somewhere for the boy...to go," stammered Misato. She fixed her eyes on the boy, "Let's go." The boy stood up to face Misato. "We'll take it from here," said Yang. The boy and Misato entered the car and Team RWBY rushed off to fight the monster. Misato started her car and prepared to take the boy to a designated location, but something didn't sit quite right. What was the last thing that the blonde had said? Misato's eyes widened in horror as she realized what those girls were planning to do. They were going to fight the angel. Misato quickly turned around to catch up to the foolhardy heroes. By the time she saw the group, she was too late. "Ruby!" Weiss shouted. Ruby nodded, "Got it!" Weiss prepared a glyph for a platform. Ruby stood with her feet against Weiss' glyph. With one thrust of her sword, Weiss sent Ruby flying into the air. Ruby lifted her weapon, Crescent Rose, high above her head. She brought it down on the monster, but the monster projected a large shield in front of his body. Ruby hit the shield with full force, sending her body flying. She landed on the ground next to the others. She didn't move.
