They all left, Kim only lingering for moments looking up into the window, hoping to see one last glance.

But in the glass mouth was only darkness.

She tried not to cry, stumbling off, down the path, not wanting to see those people again.

They would pester her, ask for every little detail.

She wasn't sure she would be able to handle it.

Now by the gate she looked back again, and turned to the window.

It was her love, gazing at her.

She raised an arm, her hand in a waving gesture, and turned down the path, sure that she couldn't run into the horrid people of her town.

Half way down the mountain, she thought about living in the colorful false world again.

How could she? After seeing past the veil of deceit.

How could she ever face any of them again?

Tears poured, and sobs racked. She fell to the dark ground.

How could she leave him like this?

For a moment, she wondered if any of them were waiting for her, waiting to make sure she didn't spend any more moments with the monster.

Well, if there were any, she would deny them their sickly pleasure.

Kim made her way back up and reached the gate again.

Would he be waiting for her?

Slowly she made her way, up the path again, until she saw the dead body of her ex-boyfriend.

She ran fearing he would rise and kill her for her treachery.

Up the stairs she ran again, stumbling, until she reached the attic.

He was staring into the night sky, perfectly still.

What could he be thinking?

His murmur of goodbye was still fresh in her mind, him letting her go, back to normality, as if she could ever do that.

She had been changed for good.

And she couldn't leave so easily.

She walked silently behind him, as not to disturb his picture of calm and wrapped her arms around him, gently whispering his name.

He didn't move, thinking this some dream that would break into the pieces of his torn heart.

"I love you" spoke e the man to his dream, and it spoke back.

"How can I leave you?"

Shock.

This was real.

Edward felt his legs weaken and fold beneath him, Kim still holding him.

Then after she moved so she could see his face she spoke again.

"I will see you again, this is not goodbye." Edward was looking at her tears.

"This is not the end. Whether it be months of years, I will see you again, even if I get married."

Edward couldn't help but smile slightly seeing the ferocity in her words. She would keep her promise, he was sure of it.

As the girl embraced him again, and they stayed like that for hours without interruption, even until morning came and she slept in his arms.

Edward heard the sound of footsteps take Jim's body, hopefully his ghost as well.

Though he was saddened to have to make her go, Edward woke her with a regretful voice and told her that she should go, or else she would get in trouble.

She had kissed him before she left, trying to smile, as to leave him a pleasant memory, and went home, as the sun rose in the sky.

Afterwards, all he could think about for that moment was the fact that he hadn't been able to cry, even though he felt such terrible pain in her leaving.

Perhaps he was a monster.
