It was dark and raining in Risembool. A lone figure was walking through the streets. It came upon an 'Automail' shop and looked in one of the windows. He saw people there all familer to him. His brother childhood friend and co-workers. He saw them laughing and smiling and not noticing someone missing. Him.
'I guess now that Al has a body they don't need me,' he thought as he felt tears threaten to fall. Ed closed his eyes to stop them and turned his head away from the scean. He ran to the top of a hill looked back to the place he once called home and ran off into the rainy night.
Ed didn't know how long he ran or how far he just kept going as far and long as his body could, He only stopped when he bumped into someone. It was still raining but he could see the person clearly as they stood up quickly.
"Sorry," said a female voice, "Wasn't looking where I was going. Here let me help you up." He saw a hand offered and hesitenly grabbed it. He was lifted off the ground and was face to face with a girl who had raven black hair with red eyes and slightly tanned skin. She wore something like Ed's outfit but the pants were baggy and it was a red shirt and a black over coat. She looked at him slightly concerned.
"What are you doing out in this rain?" she asked him as she pulled him under a ledge to provide shelter from the rain.
"I….I don't know where I am," he admitted to her his head down. The girl looked at him thoughtfully.
"You could stay at my place if you'd like," she said in a soft voice. She could tell something happened to the poor boy in front of her. Ed's head snapped up in shock.
"Are you sure?" He asked. The girl nodded.
"There's plenty of room and I think the other's would like a new roommate," she said with a smile, "By the way I'm Kaze Kage." She held out her hand.
"Edward Elric," he said as he took her hand, "Um…is that your real name?" Kaze laughed lightly.
"No but I gave my real one up long ago to escape the past," she said as she looked at him, "Would you like one too?" Ed nodded his head slowly. Kaze thought for a moment.
"How about Tsuchi Kane?" She asked. Ed thought for a second and nodded.
"Tsuchi Kane…I like it," he said as he tested the name, "But what does it mean?"
"Metal Earth or Earth Metal," she said, "Which ever way you say it. Mine means Shadow Wind or Wind Shadow" Ed nodded and smiled lightly as he saw her pick up a cold wet kitten and stick it into her coat. She then looked him.
"Come on if we run to my place then we shouldn't get too wet," she said as she started to run Ed right behind her.
"I should warn you my roommates are a bit….weird for lack of better words," said Kaze as she made a turn. Ed laughed lightly.
"That's cool I need a bit of excitement in my life," he said as they made a few more turns. They stopped at a large building that was a dark blue with a black roof. Kaze and Ed ran to the stairs and Kaze pulled out her keys.
"Be ready," she warned as she unlocked the door. They went in and saw the lights on and heard yelling in the back of the house. Kaze sighed.
"Kaji and Mizu are at it again," she mumbled then saw Ed's confused face, "Fire and Water." Ed nodded his understanding and followed her to the back were he cam face to face with……
