"Hey Natsu!" The white haired girl called, bouncing happily on the balls of her feet. It was a soft autumn afternoon, and the usually busy town was bustling considerably slower than in the summer. Browning leaves were swept down by cool air, dropping at the sneaker clad feet of the said boy, who stared at the girl blankly. "What, Lisanna?" He asked.
"Come on… let's go for a walk!" She snatched his hand, dragging him down the sidewalk, dodging the crowds attempting to make it home before dark. The people they passed stared for a second in confusion, then gazed back down at their feet to avoid tripping over stray objects."Wait- why?" He spluttered, losing his balance as she turned on one corner.
"Because walks are healthy for the body and you obviously don't get out much." She giggled as he protested. "And besides," Lisanna released his wrist, leaving him to stumble forward, and she spun with her arms spread, sighing softly. Her scarlet scarf whirled around her like it had been blown by a gale force of wind. "I love this time of year."
Natsu brushed off the knees of his pants and straighten up. "Why would you like this season?" He asked, examining the dry grass and fallen leaves on the ground disdainfully. "It gets all cold, everything dies, and you get sick. What's to love?"
"Oh, you're just seeing the bad side of things." She took his hands once more, bringing their faces close enough to see the gold specks in each others' eyes. She smiled and swung her arm, showing the palette of warm colors on the trees, being swept away rhythmically to land silently to the land outside of the black fence gates around the two.
"If spring is rebirth, summer light, and winter death… then fall's color. Don't you see how beautiful it is?"
Her voice ended in a soothing whisper, standing close by his side. Natsu glanced over and took a moment to admire her beauty. Her natural pale skin was flushed pink from the cold and running, and her lashes fluttered gently as she swept over the peaceful landscape. Her hair clip failed to catch a few strands of her sweet shade of white hair from falling in her face.
"Yeah," He whispered back. "Beautiful." The iron gates bordering them made long, faint shadows as the gentle orange sunset lit up the sky. The dark stones flickered in the bottom of their vision, interrupting the picture perfect moment shared between the two. Her soft touch slowly left his palm, and her comforting presence became a memory as she sighed and stepped forward, letting the hazy sunset consume her. When Natsu turned back, he knelt down, next to a shining gray headstone, and ran a hand over the curved top. The base of the stone was piled high with blood red roses, almost hiding the long name etched into the black stone.
"Just so you know, I love you." His almost inaudible voice was carried away by the loved autumn wind.
So hopefully you guys get that Lisanna was dead, but in spirit.
