Really. I didn't expect this to happen. It just came so suddenly.

Right after my ballet performance, this black-haired boy ran up to me and congratulated me on my great performance. My lips parted as I was about to say a thank-you when he added as an afterthought that his name was Harry Potter. As if I would require such information from a stranger.

My expression must have looked shocked then, because he seemed to shrink about ten centimeters, his face falling. Hurriedly, I muttered my name too, and his face lit up again.

He broke into a long chatter on something about himself, and then when he caught me stifling a yawn, he stopped quite abruptly and I could see some tears bubbling up to the surface of his green eyes. But my patience continued to wear thin.

"What is it?" I asked him irritably, eyebrows drawn together.

"Hey, let's be friends!" He said brightly, holding out a hand. This was so weird. He should have done this in the first place.

I refused to take his hand stubbornly, and soon he withdrew it, his eyes focusing on his trainers.

I could almost hear Hermione's teasing laughter. My lips settled into a thin line as I told Harry sternly, " If you're not going to say anything, I'm sorry, I'd rather go."

"Okay, okay!" Harry grabbed my two hands to prevent me from walking away if I had the thought of doing so. I scowled and shook my hands free, my face burning red.

Harry took my advice, at least. He did not let even a few moment's silence wash over us and talked as if we were friends for years about his family, how they were cruel to him, and about a trip to the zoo when he realized he could talk to snakes.

I listened attentively, my eyebrows flying higher and higher up my forehead.

"It's true, okay, it's really true!" He said piteously, gazing at me earnestly. I shrugged nonchalantly. " And then, the glass casing sort of disappeared and the snake I had been talking to slithered out of the place."

I felt my heart lurch, and then it was thumping very quickly. Now I was terrified of him. I backtracked, beads of perspiration sliding down my temples.

He patted my shoulder, noting my fright. "Well...I didn't know how the glass casing vanished too... But... Well, I just can't help it. Look..."

Harry pulled out a tattered piece of paper from his pocket, and let it lay still in his palm. Nothing happened...wait, WHAT?! Did the paper just fly up an inch and down again?! And up again?!

"AAAAAAAHHH!" I screamed, walking backwards as fast as I could and knocking over goodness knows what.

"Calm down!" chorused two voices in unison. Harry, of course, and... Hermione?!

I flung an arm around her as if i had not seen her in years, wondering if Harry felt jealous. "Sorry, Harry, gotta go!" I waved bye light-heartedly as I joined my friend.

Once I made sure we were out of earshot of anyone, I related to Hermione what had happened between Harry and me, and what did the paper do.

Her eyes went wide as I told her about the paper. "Magic!" She whispered incredulously. "Must be that!"

"Nonsense," I waved a dismissive hand, but I knew I was wrong. One hundred percent.

"BOO!" A sharp, distinctly familiar voice pierced my ears accompanied with a hand rested on my shoulder. Startled, I jumped in the air, shock overwhelming me in waves, I stumbled unsteadily forward, and finally whirled around.
