First let me start off by saying that absolutely none of the characters represented in this story have come from my imagination. I owe this passage, which is mine, to the creators of such a kick ass show. I guess this is also my way of saying goodbye to the one and only Spike.

Prologue: The story takes place 15 minutes after Spike said his famous last word, "bang". This ended the series and what an ending it was! Back to what I was saying however, Jet Black has found Spike's body and is coming in to retrieve him.

The Darkest Hours

The sun was shining and the birds were chirping. I sometimes wonder why in the darkest hours, everything is beautiful. It doesn't make sense. When I saw him, just lying there, I was in shock. He was lying on the ground on his stomach. I thought he would get up like he usually did, but sometimes you can't get up. As I walked toward his body, the bodyguards of the now dead Vicious just let me pass. I kneeled on the ground and turned my friends body on his back. His eyes were closed and his body was limp. His right hand was curled in the shape of a gun. I tried to wake him thinking he may have just been passed out. No, he was dead I knew inside he was.

I tried CPR, all the time knowing it wouldn't work. Giving in to reality I picked up his body and held it in a cradle position. Like waves, the guards just parted, giving me a clear walk to my ship. My ship, it feels funny saying it now when just yesterday it was "our" ship. As I took off and looked at the destruction below I realized that he had done what he came to do. He never went there to die; he went there to see if he was really alive.

I put the ship on autopilot and walked to his body. Looking down I noticed how peaceful and friendly he looked now. Maybe if he were alive he would be different. I then heard a noise in front of me. Looking up I saw her, Faye Valentine. Tears were filling up in her eyes and shock was on her face. No words were spoken between us; we just embraced each other and hugged for what seemed like an eternity.

The next day. . .

Today is the day he leaves us. We have put him in a casket and have loaded him onto the docking bay. We called Ed and she is now here to see him go with us. I look at his body through the monitor. Faye has put one red rose in his hand and has closed his casket. She has walked back up here and is now beside me along with Ed. So today I say my final words to Spike, my one true friend. We have had our times of troubles and hardships but it has always been you to pull us out. We will always admire your courage and mourn your loss. We commit your body to space and your memory to our hearts. Goodbye my friend.

Dedicated to my friends and all the fans of Spike.
