Prologue

Nine powerful fox-like Pokemon stood proud and tall, circling another two that stood proudly, protecting a small bundle of black fur. A female and a male, mates protecting their only kit from the pack that they used to consider their family. The largest creature; clearly the leader, lowered his cold, blue eyes from the two powerful Pokemon to the bundle they were attempting to protect.

"Why, my dearest daughter do you try to run from the pack?" he asked, icy cold lacing through his voice.

The female in the center of the circle looked up, her red eyes holding the power of a mother willing to die for her family. Though she tried to remain strong the birth of her kit had been exhausting.

"Are you trying to hide my grandson from me?" The thick blue-gray fur along the leader's spine began to bristle threateningly.

"Yes," The small female answered simply, "I don't want him to fight your war."

"The humans will destroy us all!"

"Not if you destroy us first."

As the two Pokemon stared at each other, icy winds began to pick up and the warmth of the summer night faded away into the cold. Anger showed in every face amongst the crowd as the parents growled menacingly and showed no signs of backing down from the fight.

"Kill them both but spare the kit," the leader snarled.

"Storm, I have brought you the kit," a female voice called from outside the den.

"Bring him in, Sky," Storm called in response.

"What shall you name him?" the dainty purple Pokemon asked.

Storm stared at the kit for several long moments thinking of a name that would fit the kit that had caused his daughter's betrayal. The kit had large paws which meant he would be Alpha size. Storm smiled, the kit would be a powerful adversary when he was grown, or he would be killed.

"Blood," Storm smiled cruelly.

"Pardon?" Sky asked uncertainly.

"His name shall be Blood."

The small, black furred kit opened his blood red eyes for the first time to stare into the eyes of the Pokemon that would grow to be his worst enemy.
