FASH: I love megane characters, probably because I wear glasses too. :)

Disclaimer: I don't own Eyeshield 21 in any way, shape or form, I just like making the characters do my bidding.

It had all started with a headache, which caused Kakei to rub at his temples and over his eyelids in the way he tended to do whenever Mizumachi was being a noisy handful. Except Mizumachi had been relatively silent, playfully flicking elastic bands at other students instead of jabbering away.

It hadn't seemed like a big deal at first, for all Mizumachi knew it was just his allergies acting up, and he hadn't really paid them much attention until Kakei informed him he'd have to leave before practice started.

Kakei never missed a practice.

"Wha-? Why?"

"My mother booked an optometrist appointment for me." Kakei mumbled as he put his text books away.

"You're getting your eyes checked? Ah! Is that why you've been getting headaches lately?"

"... I don't recall ever mentioning them to you."

Mizumachi rolled his eyes and lightly punched the other boy on the shoulder. "Give me some credit Kakei-chan, I can at least tell when something's bothering you... Wait a minute!" He stared at Kakei hard, eyes wide. "Does this mean you... You're going to become a megane character?!"

Kakei frowned at him.

"It suits you so well! Then whenever you get annoyed you can make your glasses flash ominously, or adjust them whenever you're trying to make a point-"

"I'll probably just need reading glasses, I won't be wearing them all the time."

Mizumachi pouted. "That's no fun."

"You have enough fun already, we have to deprive you of it sometimes." Kakei answered with a small smile before heading off.

The next morning before class found Mizumachi squinting his eyes and pursing his lips at the rows of books in front of him. He'd only come to the school's library because he tended to wander around when he was bored, but the boredom melted away as he passed the classic literature section and spied a familiar, tall figure.

Kakei's back was towards him, but he could see the open book in the other boy's hands, and if he had really needed reading glasses...

"Kakei-chan, I wanna see, I wanna see!"

Kakei abruptly turned around, causing the glasses to slide just a little down his nose, and his eyes were narrowed slightly behind the bold black frames, the eyepieces a little too rounded to be rectangular but too long and angular to be ovals.

The glasses really suited him, but Mizumachi wasn't about to go into a spiel about how nicely they framed his eyes, he'd leave that to the girls in class.

Instead he pointed right between Kakei's eyes, smiling widely. "Megane character!"

Kakei huffed and snapped the book he'd been skimming through shut. "Don't call me that."

"Megane, megane, megane. You should run for student council president."

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"Oh, you know." Mizumachi made a vague motion with his hands, stalling for time as he thought up a proper reason.

His thought process was paused, however, when Kakei pulled off his glasses and slid them onto his face, tucking the earpieces behind Mizumachi's ears securely.

Then Kakei pointed between his eyes, mimicking what Mizumachi had done to him earlier. "Megane character."

"Oh? Are the glasses going to become my charm point?"

"I don't think so." Kakei chuckled behind his hand. "They don't suit you at all."

"Aw, I guess we can't all look good with glasses."
