Thoughts Filled His Azkaban Cell
Sirius Black was lying in the wizard prison Azkaban. The dementors guarding his cell had no affect to him, because he knew he was innocent. Their usually cold, and depressing aura didn't even go far enough to get through his thin jacket. Only one person kept running through his mind these twelve years he was in this godforsaken prison, his godson Harry Potter. Sirius knew Harry was currently studying at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the same school Sirius had gone to when he was a boy. Sirius didn't even know what his godson looked like; that was almost enough to drive him insane.
Harry Potter' s parents had died a tragic, but heroic death. Lord Voldemort had murdered his parents, James and Lily Potter. James had been Sirius's best friend throughout their years at Hogwarts. Those two were involved in more trouble than all of the students in Hogwarts combined. There would be nights that Sirius and James stayed up deep into the night to plan or even pull a prank. Despite the current conditions, Sirius quietly laughed.
In school with two other boys, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, James and Sirius befriended created what is known today as the "Marauders Map." It was a very complex map that showed everything about Hogwarts, from the hidden tunnels going in and out of the school to the people walking around in it. Another quiet laugh and a faint smile traced across Sirius's face as he recalled the amazing schemes he and his fellow map makers had planned and went through with. That smile disappeared quickly as Sirius thought of Peter Pettigrew.
Peter was the reason Sirius was in Azkaban, the reason Sirius was convicted of a crime he would never do. Never, thought Sirius fiercely, that filthy scum knew I would rather die than betray my friends. That little rat was also the reason that Harry' s family had been torn apart, and that Sirius may never see his godson. A bubbling hatred for Pettigrew flowed through Sirius' s veins. I wonder how we ever became friends with him, thoughts Sirius coldly.
Suddenly a cold, depressing cloud seemed to fog Sirius's mind. Was it really Peter's fault, or was it me? No! NO, I'm innocent and I know it!
In that moment, Sirius knew he must escape. So what if he became the most wanted man in the wizarding world, he knew James would want him to see Harry and become a family with him. Though it was excruciatingly hard, since Sirius was so weak from long periods of time without food, he transformed into a black, shaggy dog. The Marauders were all able to become an animal at will, except Remus who, beyond his control, was a werewolf. Lupin was still alive to this day but he himself believed Sirius was involved with the murder of two of his best friends. Being so skinny, the dog Sirius slipped through the bars in his cell and got by the dementors since they could only sense human thoughts. The black dog swam from the island prison to London, where Harry was heard to live.
After walking around for hours, Sirius finally got his first glimpse at Harry. Harry looked exactly as his dad, with the exception of the brilliant green eyes of his mother. When Harry saw Sirius crouched in the bushes, he panicked. For some reason, Sirius started to bark maybe Sirius thought that Harry would understand him. How could he though, if Harry had never met him.
Suddenly, a bright purple bus appeared and Sirius quickly disappeared back into the bushes. Now, the dangerously skinny dog was happy for the first time in thirteen years.
