Someday, maybe today

Jayden wiped his slippery forehead, setting his fishing pole down. He'd been fishing all day with his best friend, Antonio, and he hadn't caught anything. Of course Antonio would need three coolers to hold his catch, but apparently the Red Ranger was not a fisher. Stretching out his sore and stiff arms and legs, he laid on the grass as his friend reeled in a bass.
"Emily's favorite!" the Mexican seemed thrilled, "she's going to love this!"
The leader of the Samurai chuckled softly. It was apparent that he liked their Yellow Ranger, and she liked him, Jayden could tell. But who would ever like him? He had his eye on a certain Pink Ranger, but she didn't like him back...did she?
"I am guessing fishing isn't working out," a familar voice broke his train of thought. Jayden sat up to see Mia standing there, balancing three glasses of sweet tea, sun on her face, black eyes squinted, midnight hair in a ponytail.
"Not really, no," Jayden gladly took a glass, letting the drink moisten his cracked, dry lips.
Mia sat Antonio's drink by said male before plopping down beside her crush. Jayden complained to her how hard fishing was, and she raised an eyebrow at Antonip's catch.
"He's been doing it for a long time," the Red Ranger huffed, "this was my first time."
"This will be my first time," Mia picked up his baited pole, "and I bet I can catch something."
"No way," the Samurai doubted a girl could beat...
"Ha!" Mia reeled in a bass quickly.
"Lucky shot," Jayden was startled by that.
About five minutes later, a pile of bass and brim was in a cooler. Jayden was now fuming.
"I must have stirred them up," he grabbed his pole from a smug looking Mia, "watch!"
About twenty minutes later, Jayden was fuming as Mia was trying not to laugh. He hadn't even gotten a nibble.
"Want me to help?" a giggle escaped her lips.
"No," he spotted the low bridge and decided to try there.
He was just about to throw his pole into the water in various pieces when Mia touched his white knuckles. Suddenly, his pole lurched in his hands. The Red Ranger pulled back, trying to reel it in. Suddenly, his feet flew and he was in the lake. Mia, laughing with force, held up his prize: A inch-size minnow.
Laughing with her, Jayden pulled in her in. The two splashed around, laughing with their hearts in love.
"Hey!" Antonio protested, "you are stirring up the fish! Get out, would ya'?"
Still laughing, the Red and Pink Rangers climbed out and sun-dried, talking and talking about who-knows what. Just as they were about to kiss…
"Guys!" Antonio ran up, "I just caught two fish at one time!"
He haulted, realizing he'd just ruined the moment. But his embaressment ended when they both shoved in the water. Growling playfully, he responded, "You two are dead!"
Okay, so maybe they hadn't kissed today. But with her beside him, laughing as they ran, Jayden knew he would kiss Mia…someday.
