I slammed the car door. The cooling engine of my BMW crackled as I walked away. Eight in the morning and already the sun was hot. I yawned and walked over to the guard's post, pointing to my ID on the strap of my letter bag. The guard who wasn't sleeping nodded, giving me access to the crime scene. I waltzed to the chain-link fence and reached for the latch. But it seemed to magically open by itself. I looked up
It was him.
"Hello, Beautiful," Klavier said, wiping a stray hair out of my face.
"I told you not to call me that," I replied, pushing him out of the way. I began look for where exactly the crime took place, and I guess you can say I 'stumbled upon it'. People were still crowded around, being questioned and shooed. I tried to study the scene quickly, and ended up wondering how anyone could even walk around here in the middle of the night; I was wearing heels and the grass still tickled my ankles, as did blood. Ick, I thought. Klavier's boots stood in front of me. I looked up.
"C'mon, Ema. Just admit it, because this is seriously starting to get old."
"You say that everyday, Klavier. This conversation is getting old. I have nothing to admit to you, anyway. So you might as well leave," I retorted, sticking my hand in my bag to take out the luminol. Underneath unused test tubes and empty Snackoo bags. I could see Klavier's feet still cemented to the ground.
"You know me. I'm not going anywhere," I didn't look up. If anything, I looked away. I finally had my hands on the luminol, and I took it out. I was about to turn around when I felt Klavier's fingers. Gently, they were cradling me chin. He lifted my head up. My heart raced. We stared, but both his smile and eyes stayed soft. Me on the other hand, my glare was piercing and my teeth grinding behind a straight smile. But that didn't stop him to get what he wanted.
He leaned in.
I shut my eyes.
And as soon as his lips brushed against mine, I was gone. The luminol dropped onto the ground. Then I regained consciousness. I broke us apart, and, out of habit, backhanded him. "What the hell?"
"What do you mean what the hell? For a second I swore-!"
"For a whole second, Gavin? Please. It wasn't even for half a second."
"So you're admitting it?" He smiled.
"Admitting what exactly?"
"You kissed me back. You are admitting you kissed me," I was just surprised that he wasn't jumping for joy.
"Kissed you? I backhanded you. Nice try though, Rockstar," I smirked, picking up the luminol and beginning to walk towards the restrooms.
"Fraulein...!"
I ignored him.
"No, Ema, really...."
I tripped. My tie-up heels must've come undone and Klavier was trying to warn me. I should've listened. My luminol went flying about five feet, too. I sprawled onto the ground, groaning. Klavier came rushing over.
"I tried to warn you..."
"Oh, shut up and help me up," I grabbed his hand so he could help me stand.
"Let me get that for you, Fraulein," he said, pointing to my shoe.
"Nah, I got it," I said, plopping myself down on the grass again, and reaching for the silk lace. I saw the swelling and looked up. "Well…do you mind doing it for me?"
He got down on his knees and tied it up. The bow was perfect. I stood up and wobbled. "Will you be okay...?"
"It hurts but I'll be fine...," I said walking away. I glance down for a second and he's in my face.
Again.
I facepalmed him forcefully, sending him backwards. "You're going to have try harder then that, ja?" I smirked, mocking him...
But I almost stopped dead in my tracks.
I was just flirting with Klavier Gavin.
