Disclaimer: Not even a little bit.
(Dumbledore to Fenir Greyback) "And yes, I am a little shocked that Draco here invited you, of all people, into the school where his friends live…."
"I didn't," breathed Malfoy. He was not looking at Fenir; he did not seem to even want to glance at him. "I didn't know he was going to come—"
It wasn't just Fenir, though, thought Draco angrily as he and the other Death Eaters headed back inside the castle. It was everyone: Bellatrix, the Carrows, and that git of a teacher, Snape. What did he think, that he would be able to take all of the credit for Draco's work? Did Snape want to have the Dark Lord's favor all to himself? Well, Draco would see to it that that didn't happen. He had done all of the work, he had spent those countless hours alone in the Room of Requirement, he had gotten everyone here…to his school….
His school. The school where he had made friends, without any help from his parents, the school where he had learned to use magic-and not just dark stuff-the school where he had grown so much…. Draco felt sick as he looked around at it now. He had never seen it in such chaos. Spells flying, first and second years screaming-God, he could remember being e waHthat age....
And the other Death Eaters didn't seem to care at all. They just stomped unfeelingly through the castle, shooting stunning spells, unforgivables, whatever they felt like, in all directions. Everyone except Fenir: Draco just knew that he had already found his prey.
Well, maybe they could tear apart Hogwarts, killing anyone who got in their way. Maybe they had forgotten how magical the castle truly was, forgotten their old school friends, and forgotten their old school memories. But he, Draco, was not yet so cold and detached. He still remembered how he felt when he first stepped inside Hogwarts, how great the independence was. Draco sat down on one of the marble steps; he would fight no more tonight, he would contribute no more to this pointless battle. After all, this was his school.
Author's Note:
This is something I thought about more and more each time I saw HP6. (Erm, yeah...I saw it 3 times...once at midnight, once with friends, and once with family. lol) Anyway, it made me really sad to think of Draco, looking around him, at Bellatrix, cackling as she demolished the Great Hall, and to see everyone battling in Hogwarts. This could also be applied to the battle at Hogwarts in DH, but…yeah.
Enjoy & please review!
