AN: This idea came into my head a while ago. It won't go away! I wrote it quickly during language arts. It's not the best I could've done, but I don't hate it. This will probably be a oneshot unless I decide to write more. Please review!
Who Dumped Who?
"Oh my God," Maureen said shocked as she fell to the ground.
"Maureen," Mark sat down by her. "It's not that I don't love you, it's just…"
"What?" she demanded.
"Look," Mark started. "I love you. You know that. And I will always love you."
Mark tried to put an arm around Maureen but she scooted away from him.
"C'mon, don't be like that."
He crawled over to her where she was leaned up against the couch.
Maureen looked up into his glistening, blue eyes and instantly broke down into tears. Sobs racked her body and she began to shake uncontrollably. She fell over onto her side and curled up into a ball.
Mark was horrified at what he saw. He had never seen her like that. Maureen never showed her weak side to anyone.
What have I done?He thought to himself.
He leaned over Maureen, scooped her up into his arms, and set her on the couch. She began to thrash around, her arms and legs flailing in every direction. Mark held her arms to the couch but she continued to kick at the air.
She started to scream.
"Shh," he soothed. "Calm down."
Her screams suddenly turned into whimpers.
Mark released her arms and she immediately ran to the other side of the room. She sat huddled in the corner. Her whimpering continued.
Mark slowly walked over to Maureen.
"Mo," he said in a quiet voice. "I'm not going to hurt you."
She looked past him and simply said, "You already have."
Mark instantly felt guilty and he tried to explain.
"I love you more than anything, and I will always care about you. I just don't think we should continue our relationship."
"Can we still be friends?" She asked pleadingly.
Mark let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"I was hoping you'd ask that," he smiled. "Of course."
Maureen stood up and captured Mark in a warm embrace.
"I love you, Maureen," he whispered. "I'm so sorry about all this."
She let go of him and stepped back, wiping away the tears that still lingered on her face.
"Hey, Mark?" she asked.
"Yeah?"
"Umm," she hesitated. "Do you think that you could, uh, tell everyone that I dumped you?"
He just looked at her.
"I kind of have a tough girl, I-don't-take-shit-from anybody reputation to uphold."
"Yeah, sure," he agreed. "No problem."
"Thanks," she smiled.
