A/N: this is my first fanfiction ever so I hope you all enjoy. I would like everyone who reads to please review so I know how my writing is and if I should continue to write. Constructive criticism is always welcomed and appreciated

It had been 3 months since Akito died and the curse was lifted. The search for Kyo's cage had been laborious and the Sohmas had nearly given up. When they finally found the cage their fears were correct. Going that long without nourishment was impossible even for someone so stubborn.

They found the body curled up in a corner like he had eventually just given up. Along the bottom though was a scratched message that read: I still love you Yuki. The two had, had a relationship for four months before he had gotten taken, at least as far as the rest of the family was concerned, but that didn't matter because they still loved each other more than anything. They were going to have to tell Yuki the news so they elected Hatori to break it to him gently.

Hatori arrived at the house and walked up stairs to Yuki's bedroom. He knocked on the door and Yuki let him come in.

"Yuki I have to tell you something..." Hatori said.

"Before you start its Kyo isn't it?" Yuki cut in.

"Um well…."

"He's dead correct?"

Yuki turned his head to see the man in his room and the look on his face confirmed his thoughts.

"Thank you Hatori, for the information." Yuki replied to his answer.

"Would you like to know the location of…?" Hatori started.

"No, I do not wish to know that." was the gentle whisper from Yuki.

"Before I go I am supposed to tell you about the scratched message we found, from him, on the bottom of the cage."

Yuki looked straight at the man's face letting him know that his full attention was focused on what he was saying.

"The only thing it said were the five words: I still love you Yuki."

With those last words Hatori turned around and left the room thinking that the boy needed time to think about the information given. As he left he hoped that the boy would be ok.

The way Hatori had described Yuki's reaction to the news surprised the rest of the family. It was almost like he was ok with the fact that his lover was dead or that he didn't have hope for him to begin with. Whenever asked Yuki said that he was fine and at the small ceremony they created for the cat he didn't cry. As a matter of fact he didn't cry at all, at least not in front of anyone else. But those five words haunted him for a week until he just couldn't take it anymore.

This time when everyone was gathered around it was for the cat's lover, the rat, and there was an actual funeral unlike for the cat. The ceremony had just ended when Haru stood up to stop everyone from leaving.

"When Yuki's body was found he had a single piece of paper in his hand" he started. "I think he would like it if it was read aloud for all of us to hear and I have offered to read it."

Haru picked up the piece of paper and read:

When Kyo died my soul did too and my heart shattered. If it is possible to live through that, then I am not strong enough. It is ok to be sad but do not dwell for I am with my love again.

To those I've hurt I am sorry but, the emptiness was too much. No longer an empty shell, I have set myself free. Do not be sorry for I am no longer alone. I am forever with my one and only love.

-Yuki

When Haru finished reading, the Sohma family and Tohru all got up and left with slightly lighter hearts even under such circumstances. They were able to do this knowing that the rat had finally felt loved and the impatient cat would wait no more.
