A/N: This is actually a poem I wrote about the Rwandan Genocide. But it reminded me so much of the Ishbal War that I decided to change it around to fit. It kind of goes along with somethings I will be writing in later chapters of The Devil's Arithmetic. Anyway, I hope you like it.
A thousand voices scream at night
A thousand souls are dying
A thousand heartbeats cease to pulse
A thousand lights are fading
A hundred thousand lives are spent
Without end to the fighting
A thousand hopes, and dreams, and laughs
Into the sand are seeping
A thousand red oceans of blood
Follow the children's crying
A thousand pairs of keen red eyes
See through all the lying
A thousand minds rise up to speak
But instead give up trying
A thousand hands reach out in hope--
Please, someone stop the fighting.
A/N: Feedback of any kind is greatly appreciated. Suggestions are very welcome.
