AT THE END OF THE DAY…
"Hoo!
Wow! You look...stunning." Nick backed up a step so he could get a full
view of Catherine, who twirled around with a laugh.
"You know you could kill someone with a dress like that on." Warrick said admonishingly but with a smile, "You
better cover up before Greg
comes in. This..." He wagged his finger at her outfit, "was not meant
for children's eyes."
"I heard my name! You guys better not be talking about m..." Greg stopped
dead in his tracks and his eyes widened as he caught sight of
Catherine, "Whoa."
"See what I mean?" Warrick shook his head
and slapped the lab tech on the back, "Hey Greggo!
Close your mouth, you're drooling!"
Nick chuckled before asking the question the others were meaning to ask,
"So what was the occassion?"
"Date." Catherine answered simply, "Got
paged before I had time to change."
"Date, huh? Who was the lucky guy?"
Before Nick could get his answer, Grissom strode into the break room and passed
by Catherine without so much as a look.
Nick exchanged 'did you see that?' looks with Warrick
and Greg before turning to Grissom, "Grissom! You ok?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Why?" Grissom asked
casually, sipping at his coffee.
Nick pointed at Catherine and opened his mouth but no words came out. He knew
Grissom didn't always respond to Catherine the way
other men did but this was just too odd.
"Are *you* ok, Nick?" Grissom looked at the younger CSI oddly.
"I think what Nick's trying to say is, don't you have anything to say about
Catherine's outfit?" Warrick explained.
It was only now that Grissom gave a glance in Catherine's direction,
"Hmm...you should find something more comfortable
to
change into. We're going out into the field to meet up with Brass in 10
minutes."
Catherine nodded and left the room.
"That's it? No 'you're beautiful'? Not even a 'you look good'?" Nick asked
in bewilderment.
"Catherine knows how she looks. She doesn't need me to tell her."
"Aren't you even curious as to why she's dressed like that?"
"She had a date."
"How did you know?"
"A date is not an uncommon reason to dress up for." Grissom poured his
coffee out and began walking out the door, "Plus, I knew because
I *was* her date."
Nick quickly recovered from the shock and asked before Grissom could disappear
into the hallway, "Oh, so that's why you told her
to
change! You're jealous!"
Grissom stopped in the doorway and turned back to look at Nick, "I don't
have a reason to be jealous, Nick. At the end of the day, *I'm*
the one she goes home with." He gave a pointed look at all 3 of the guys and chuckled all the way out the door.
