Warning: Spoilers for Superman Batman: Public Enemies

Synopsis: In the Superman Batman comics, there was an arc in the beginning about Lex Luthor declaring Superman a Public Enemy and Batman also, by association. Nightwing and company and Super Boy and company break into the White House to free their mentors. Nightwing and his group go to the Oval Office and confront President Luthor who had begun pumping odorless nerve gas into the room since the moment they walked in. Luthor beats up Nightwing and the last thing you see is him and Helena laying on the floor at Luthor's feet. Next a red whirl wind blows through the room and Luthor is befuddled to see that he is alone in the room--his victims had disappeared.

This drabble picks up right after that with Nightwing.

His vision was dimming and he knew it was only a matter of time before he lost consciousness, and, that's when he felt the wind.

It came in and gently scooped him up, calling his name over and over again—its voice thick with worry.

He tried to answer, but, his body wasn't responding. He could feel his head loll back against his rescuer's arm.

His chest tightened and he tried not to fight for air. He knew the side effects of the nerve gas and knew he'd have a better chance of survival if he didn't struggle against it.

Protective arms held him close when the convulsions set in and the last thing he heard before his world turned to black was Superman's voice, the Man of Steel, demanding him to hold on—such desperation in his voice—commanding that he not give up.
