Hello! Artsy here! First things first I want to mention that this story was originally posted on my tumblr and now reposted here. That and this fic is supposed to go with a song, the music box version of the song "Edelweiss", thus the title. To listen to the song you can go here (ask-artsy-oncie. Enjoy!

It was far too late to be working.

But, once again, the young inventor was up past midnight sketching out blueprints or designs, or tinkering with whatever project he was working on. There were dark circles around his eyes, and he looked worn out more than anything else.

His loyal helperbot had been watching him the entire time, unknown to the man.

Greedlerbot let out a soft, metallic sigh, and not even that was enough to get the attention of his creator, Steam-ler. He tried so often to make sure his human companion got all the sleep he needed, always concerned for his health and well being, but for some reason, he was never listened to. He didn't think that Steam ignored him on purpose, but the tinkerer always seemed to think he would be able to pull all-nighter after all-nighter and still be okay.

He wasn't okay, and tonight, Greedler was going to get him to sleep one way or another.

Without warning, the robot easily scooped up Steam-ler and held him bridal style. The inventor was surprised but too tired to protest. Still, he tried to reach back for his desk and his work, but Greedler would have none of that.

From his inner mechanisms he started to produce a soft, high sound, as if he were humming, but it sounded exactly like a music box, instead. He played his lullaby softly and sweetly to the tired young man, it was a song he had heard in a movie once before.

Steam-ler yawned, the music slowly lulling him to sleep. He knew very well why Greedler was doing what he was, the poor robot was always so worried about his health. He was also very stubborn, and he knew he wouldn't be able to put up a fight, and even if he did, he would lose. He supposed one night without working couldn't be too bad. The inventor yawned again and snuggled against his robot, nuzzling his head beneath Greedler's chin. The invention smiled warmly and gave a soft purr over the music, before continuing his lullaby and gently carrying his Love to bed.
