The footprints stay on my heart From where her feet have stood Then as quick as rain can fall She left, just like she said she would

We looked high and low for her Up and down long roads We found a soft, silent place That must be broken by a code

A tune was played, a gate was opened to another place We found a city of olden lands That looked from outside space

Feeling a lost souls prayer We walked through the old land Then sleep over come our tired eyes And took us by the hand

But I, for one Could not just shut my eyes I looked out upon the city Danger in the skies

Then I heard a soft, brave voice Saying softly in my ear "Please come to me, my darling I promise you no fear...."

I wake up my companions And ran into the night I've come to find my darling As I saw a spring in sight

I went inside the shell Next to the glowing spring I found a long, deep staircase As my eyes began to sting (from tears)

I ran down the case as fast as I could Praying I'd find you And to my heart, I was right And stare is what I could do

But something was very different You did not look at me I ran to the steps, smiling softly Your lovely face all I could see

I finally reached the top And walked over to you A feeling just swept over me As I raised my sword, high as I could

Then my companions broke my concentration As I put my sword away You just opened those beautiful eyes And smiled in a solemn way

I stared at your emerald eyes And then I felt a shock He fell down and sliced you through I whispered, "Sephiroth..."

She did not stop her smiles Her eyes filled with hope Her hair fell down as my heart sunk And I just could not cope

Holy glew and then was gone As I caught her in my arms She was so quiet, cold and silent Fate, the heart, it harms

Sephiroth just watched us A smirk upon his lips I gave him a cold stare At my heart, that smirk, it rips

He said something vicious In which I plainly ignored I held you close and closed my eyes And then I began to mourn

My friends just looked down at you They looked at me and sighed They knew I had loved you so It was a feeling I could not hide

I lifted you as they walked off Wishing things weren't what they seemed I kissed your lips, carried her outdoors And carefully into the spring

The wind blew softly against my trees Brushing my tears away I smiled hopefully and believed And I believe it from this day

The wind was your soft hands Touching my warm face Brushing away those awful tears In this begotten place

I touched her face and began to cry As I let you go for the last time I watched you open up your arms As the sun began to shine

I'd never hear your laughter I'd never see you cry And I will just have to wait For someplace, by and by.....

Goodbye Aeris.....
