The sleep theorem

*Knock Knock Knock* "Leonard." *Knock Knock Knock* "Leonard." *Knock Knock Knock* "Leonard."

"For God sakes Sheldon, it's three in the morning what do you want now?!" Leonard asked, clearly irritated. Sheldon was miserable; he didn't need his best friend yelling at him too. He flinched when Leonard flung the door open and backed up towards the wall; feeling smaller than an atom.

"Leonard, I can't sleep." His voice was quivering, almost as if he were on the brink of tears. You have to take your time with Sheldon, but that cold, dark night, Leonard had absolutely no patience left.

"And what do you want me to do about it?" He asked Sheldon was a sigh. This had been happening so often over the past week that he was about ready to drug his roommate just so he could get some sleep.

"I don't know Leonard; I'm all out of options." Sheldon's voice was strained and high pitched, trying to get his friend to understand how dire the situation was. It seemed to work for a little bit.

"Really, you've tried everything?" Sheldon was exasperated, Leonard was absolutely no help. He was going to die from lack of sleep, then that would show him. It would show them all, that next time, when Dr. Sheldon Cooper asked for help, you help him!

"Leonard, I have an IQ of 187, of course I've tried everything."

"Sheldon, just go to bed!" Penny groaned from inside Leonard's room. Sheldon sighed and shook his head at Leonard, clearly disappointed in him. He didn't seem to care though and just shrugged.

"I don't know Sheldon, try talking to Amy, she knows about brains, maybe she can help."

Try talking to Amy…

"Sheldon?" Amy asked with squinted eyes. Her hair was standing in every direction and she was clothed in her night gown, but nonetheless she let Sheldon into her home. "What can I do for you?"

"I can't sleep." He told her, as if doing so would give her all the explanation that she needed. She nodded in understanding, but it was clear how confused she was.

"And what do you want me to do about it?" Sheldon was a little hesitant to mention his idea to her, having no idea how she would react.

"Leonard told me to talk to you about it." He could tell just how tired she was, mainly because she couldn't stop yawning. He felt so bad for waking her at such an insane hour, but he chose not to say anything about it.

"I don't know, Sheldon. I'm going back to bed; feel free to join me if you want." Amy told him, turning and walking towards her room. Sheldon let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding; she just made that so much easier. Now he didn't have to ask her, he could just join her.

When Sheldon followed Amy into the bedroom, she was surprised to find that he actually took up her suggestion. What she had said that, it was mainly meant to be sarcasm, she didn't think he would actually join her.

Silently, Amy slid into her bed and rested her head on her pillow. Her eyes immediately shut and she didn't bother pulling the blanket around her. She seemed to have forgotten that Sheldon could see her thighs in that nightgown…

Gulping, Sheldon joined her in the bed and covered her up quickly. Then he pulled her closer to him and buried his nose in her hair. Her body was so warm, and the gentle rise and fall of her chest helped him to calm down.

Within moments he fell into a deep sleep filled with visions of him and Amy doing all sorts of things together.

Sleeping next to her was like a dream come true.
