RED

It hadn't been a deal, not really.

It had been more an insinuation, logical really. If you borrow/steal someone's bike and end up trashing it then have the nerve to return the mass of twisted metal no longer recognizable as a bike to the owner and not expect them to want some kind of repayment, you're either really good friends or an idiot.

Such was the story with Misty and Ash. They may have been best friends back when they were traveling together but Ash was an idiot. That, and he never repaid her either. In a way. Misty could say she was disappointed but not surprised. Ash's head was rarely anywhere but becoming the best pokémon trainer and while she respected that, she found it to be his most annoying trait.

She didn't care, not really. It's just that after traveling with the guy so long she found out she actually had feelings for him. Feelings beyond the motherly way she had seen him in before, and beyond what she was willing to admit to anyone but herself. Unfortunately, they seemed one sided. If Ash really did care for anything or anyone outside of his goal, he hid it pretty well. While he had shown a dislike when she announced her return to Kanto, she couldn't help but notice he hadn't tried to stop her...At least, not as hard as she'd seen him do other things.

Misty looked at her reflection in the pool in front of her, sighing. Oh well, she thought sullenly. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be... She didn't know how many times she had told herself this and that she should just give up, but the thought always seemed to creep back to her.

The sound of the door opening behind her snapped the water gymnast out of her thoughts and she turned to see her three sisters walk in, looking like they had just finished a particularly joyful talk.

"Oh, there you are, 'Sis." Lily greeted, smiling slyly, wrapping her arm around Misty. "Boy, do we have a surprise for you."

"Looks like our baby sister has an admirer," Lily stated twisting a vivid red rose in her hand with a slightly envious look before handing it to her little sister. "It's a special deliver."

Misty took it with no small amount of confusion. "But...Who..." She started, more touched then she wanted to let on. It was usually her sisters who got such gifts from a handful of guys around the city, coupled with their undying love (but none of them seemed to last long, Misty noticed). Thinking back, Misty couldn't ever remember a time where she had gotten a flower for the heck of it, instead of a desperate apology.

"That one kid, oh what's his name..." Daisy drifted off in thought, a finger on her chin in a classic thinking pose.

After several minutes of thoughtful silence had gone by, Violet rolled her eyes and motioned to the door they had just come from. "Well, he's right outside. Look for your self."

Misty looked at each of her sisters, somewhat unnerved by their identical smiles but started for the door anyway.

Stepping through the door, Misty felt a secure happiness swell inside her.

"Hi Ash."
