Lara crouched beside Kurtis looking at him eyes filled with concern. When did it come to this? She was fully aware of the fact that they had known about each others existence for only a little while but that didn't stop the pain eating her inside. When had she come to care about the yank so much? She didn't have to question herself long for she alreaydy knew the answer. The Louvre. No man had ever made her feel herself so...so exquisite and the man slowly dying in front of her had reached down to her soul with a single touch. No eyecontact had been needed. The fire had existed even before he had touched her. There was something in him that made the air so electrified you could almost see the sparks. The whole world had seemed to disappear as she spun around to meet his eyes. It had felt like the whole world disappeared leaving them in silence like they had been the only beings surviving a hazard. At that moment she had wanted nothing more than a simple kiss. To her it had felt as her life was dependant on the little expression of affection. She would've given anything to reach his lips but those few centimetres had seemed like miles. Suddenly the moment that had seemed to last an eternity was taken away.
What was it in the man that had made her feel such way? She looked at Kurtis again seeing nothing that had existed the day they had shared their first eyecontact. Instead of that she saw everything that had been missing from her life and sorrow took over her for she knew she had to let go. Even now she could see life slowly escaping his body leaving it pale and unmoving. Every cell in his body seemed to be letting go. Lara let her fingers run along his cheek feeling the utter coldness and dampness. It was evident that he wouldn't pull through. Looking at him like trying to burn his image in her mind for an eternity to come she leaned to kiss his lips. To her amazement there was a response. It was weak but for a moment it had existed.
She didn't want to part her lips from his but she knew she had to. Slowly she let go but didn't look at him. She couldn't.
"I...love you. I wa-ant you to know that" She said and opened her eyes now filled with tears only to find his blue eyes open and looking directly in hers. In them she could see the fire blazing clearly before his eyes grew dim and didn't see anymore. With a single movement she shut his eyelids letting her tears roam free.

He couldn't feel the pain anymore. Instead of it he had entered a place no torment took place. He had grown numb. Somewhere in the deepest circles of his mind he understood that someone was sitting by him. Suddenly he felt the most tender kiss he had ever received. He heard her words and every cell still acapable in his body wanted to answer her, tell her the words he had not used for ages but his lips weren't able to move anymore. 'I know' he thought to himself 'and I hate letting you live without knowing it'. He used every bit of the strenght he had left to open his eyes and lay one final look in her brown warm ones. Peace claimed his heart even though she was crying. Her tears made him calm and darkness claimed him. He was as free as a bird.
