Tenten wasn't stupid. She knew the dead didn't come back. Not in ordinary cases, anyway. Yet, his cases was anything but ordinary. Nobel sacrifice, some people would say. Heroic, according to others. She sniggered. He would scoff at them, if he were still alive. She knew what his reaction would have been. "Sacrifice? Heroic?" He'd laugh. "I'm just fulfilling my duty. Anyone would have done that." Tch. It would've been just like him. Taking something so serious nonchalantly. Yet, she could've sworn she had seen him. The familiar long raven hair. His eyes. She blinked. She must have been hallucinating.

Neji wouldn't have imagined the day he'd walk past the graveyard and see his own name etched on a gravestone. He would have never envision himself living a nameless life. Blending quietly into the background. He'd always imagine himself living in the Hyuga household until he aged and died. He'd imagine himself going on a mission and never coming back, but he never did think he would be forced to fade into nothing after his 'heroic sacrifice'. He scoffed. It was just duty. Yet, it wasn't that he didn't want his previous life. He couldn't. He had saw a figure sitting near his grave. His former teammate. His former lover. He never used to think the time spent with her precious. Now he could only so much as watch her from the distance. Maybe she had seen him. He quickly ducked away. It was too risky, coming back. This would be his last time.

Tenten blinked hard, and saw nothing. There wasn't anyone there. She wasn't stupid. The dead didn't come back.

A/N An angsty one shot featuring this couple. It's been so long since I've wrote anything about them. I was wrecked after he died. Because this is just a one-shot I haven't worked out anything about why he can't return to the village. This just sort of had to be written, but if you have any ideas just tell me! Reviews make my day.
