Teddy To Be The Ring Bearer

Harry Potter was sitting on the sofa in the sitting room of number 12 Grimmauld Place. Next to him was Draco Malfoy who was playing with Harry's fingers. Across from them sat Andromeda Tonks with her legs crossed at the knee. She looked proper yet relaxed, and there was a slight smile across her lips. In between the two couches was Teddy Lupin playing on the carpet with his toys. They were magically enhanced toys that would do whatever Teddy ordered of them. It was very amusing to Harry to watch his godson play. After the war had ended Harry and Andromeda had agreed that it would be best from Teddy to be raised by someone older than seventeen. For the first few years Andromeda would bring Teddy over for visits about twice a week and after his fifth birthday Teddy started having semi-regular sleep overs at Grimmauld Place.

It had been two years, three months and six days after the war that Harry had started dating Draco. Everyone was - understandably - shocked at first but as everyone got to know Draco they began to love him also. There were very few people who hadn't accepted their relationship; everyone of importance to them was loving and supportive. Harry had been most concerned about Ron, but he and Draco had become friends, although they maintained their tendency to bicker. Andromeda had always been approving of their relationship, and was glad now to be able to get to know her nephew better. Harry could tell Draco also enjoyed having this time with his aunt and also knew that he adored Teddy immensely.

"Can I ask you a question, Harry?" Teddy said suddenly, he had a slight lisp that was all too adorable. He stood up and walked to Harry with something less of his normally happy demeanor.

"You sure can bud." Said Harry, picking up his godson and placing him on his knee. He kept one hand supporting Teddy's back and returned his other hand to Draco's.

"Well we went to visit Ron and Herma-nee, and I heard them laughing in the kitchen. I didn't mean to spy." He said quickly with a glance at Andromeda. "Well I heard Ron say 'Bloody hell, who knew one day Harry would be marrying Malfoy. Almost killed him in sixth year, and now not even a decade later he is marrying the bugger.' I don't understand what he means." Andromeda's eyes had bulged at hearing Teddy repeat Ron's various words of profanity. Then her eye brows had furrowed.

"Teddy you know better than to use that potty language. Honestly though - Draco, Harry are you getting married and have yet to have told us?" She turned a stern, slightly hurt, glance on them. Draco sighed witheringly.

"We weren't planning on making an announcement for a few months but of course it would be the Weasel that let it slip. Harry insisted on telling them within minutes of me asking him. Now I guess we might as well announce it." Draco said in a half amused, half annoyed tone. Harry stuck his tongue out at the blonde, and then said,

"It was not minutes - it was the next day." Draco smiled back at him, giving him a quick peck on the check.

"I'm still confused. Why did Ron say that you almost killed him in sixth year? Don't you love Draco?" Teddy was frowning as if the idea of Harry not loving Draco was incomprehensible. The small boys hair went from it's usual turquoise blue to the yellow colour of a lemon, as it always did when he was contemplating something particularly hard.

"Teddy I do love Draco very much. When we were younger though, well we weren't very smart. We didn't like each other when we were at Hogwarts, and in our sixth year I used a spell before knowing what it did and Draco was hurt really bad. I still regret it to this day Teddy, but things change over time. We're happy together now and that's what really matters." Harry said calmly. Teddy's hair turned bubble gum pink which usually meant he was really excited - it was Harry's favourite as it reminded him so forcibly of Tonks.

"Harry if you marry Draco then you are officially part of the family!" Teddy practically yelled with thrill in his voice then a little more quietly added. "Can I help you in the wedding?"

"You sure can Teddy. In fact we were hoping you would carry our rings during the ceremony - it's one of the most important jobs." Harry said with affection in his voice and ruffled Teddy's, now changing back to blue, hair. The boy jumped off of Harry's knee to go back and play with his toys. Harry and Draco looked at each other and smiled. Draco then leaned into Harry's ear and whispered.

"I love you." Harry was smiling ear to ear while he replied.

"Love you too, bugger." He said the last part in an imitation of Ron, and they both laughed. Andromeda looked at Harry in such a way that warned she would put him in the corner if he kept using "potty language". Harry looked sheepish. He felt like the luckiest person alive to have such an amazing family. He was the happiest he could ever remember being. With his loving fiancé, loyal friends, and precious godson - he felt there was nothing else in the world he could possibly need. They sat in silence and continued to watch the brilliant blue haired boy laugh while he played with his toys. Life was good.
