Please Forgive Me
Author's Notes: I've drawn some fire for my lack of ability to write dialogue--not so much the dialogue itself as the internal struggle and physical description of what's going on during the dialogue. As we know, I'm here to get better as a writer, and you're here to enjoy my borderline psychotic rantings. Today, in order to get better as a writer, I'll be exploring dialogue. Hence, a songfic. The song is David Gray's Please Forgive Me. If you haven't heard it, he also wrote . You should pick up his album, White Ladder, available in stores now. Oh, BTW, I haven't seen this week's Dark Angel--I was watching the Avs beat the Habs. But I have it on tape. I've been too busy to watch it. No one spoil it! Okay. Nuff said. Oh, I saw the last 5 minutes, but that's cool, Logan can't walk in this one. M/L warning: it's Valentine's day, so even I had to succumb to the urge.
Dedication: To fatpie, love pelemasa--for valentine's day.
Disclaimer: I own neither the song lyrics nor the characters. I also don't own the alphabet, the words, or the English language; but I'm using them, too. So I really don't own much of what's going on, here. But in what sense can we really own anything, anyway? That's why your lawsuits won't stand up in court. *raspberry*

Max walked into Logan's apartment, the sun bringing out lighter highlights in her auburn hair. She walked around the corner, looking for him, when he rolled out.
Logan, eyes gleaming said, Please forgive me if I act a little strange... for I know not what I do. Feels like lightning running through my veins every time I look at you. The words tumbled out so quickly, Logan almost felt dazed. He couldn't believe that he was saying this, his mind was tripping over his tongue, ...every time I look at you.
Max had been waiting for this for so long, she could hardly believe that she was hearing it now.
Help me out here, all my words are falling short...' Logan said, ...and there's so much I want to say.
She smiled openly.
He smiled back, a heartbreaking smile,Wanna tell you just how good it feels when you look at me that way. I... Logan almost lost what he was saying. He was rushing now, the words were coming out wrong; the ideas fading. When you look at me that way.
Logan hoped he was getting this right. Throw a stone and watch the ripples flow, Logan continued, moving out across the bay. Like a stone I fall into your eyes: deep into that mystery, I... Logan felt like he was rambling, still stunned that he was saying it at all. He continued, Deep into some mystery.
Max was suddenly angry now, thinking why didn't he say all this before, standing, turning, saying: I got half a mind to scream out loud... I got half a mind to doubt. She was walking away now, leaving. Got to get out of here.
Logan said, quietly, So I won't ever have to lose you, girl?
Max turned, tears in her eyes, Won't ever have to say goodbye? I won't ever have to lie?
Logan nodded, Won't ever have to say goodbye.
Max walked towards him, tears in her eyes, saying, quietly: Please forgive me if I act a little strange, for I know not what I do, she paused, wiping a tear from her cheek, feels like lightning running through my veins every time I look at you.

Well, that didn't turn out quite as well as expected. Sorry. I visualized it a bit differently. Playing to your weaknesses is always revealing, isn't it? Happy Valentine's day, everybody.
