Pokemon United Umbreon Edition
Pokemon…I never was into that cartoon show where people lived with monsters and battled with them, to be honest, the whole concept bored me. It doesn't help that I have a little brother who quite frankly lives off them.
My name is Hunter, I'm just your regular 14 year old high school student…bleh. High school sucks. I wish back in 8th grade they gave us a "High School Survival" class. The teachers look like they want to fall over dead, the janitors (the few there were) are just as lazy, bullies basically run the school. The only nice students I've come to know are my friends Monica, Jesse, and my childhood friend Jordan. Jordan and I go way back, all the way to elementary school. Ironically enough, my Dad is a coworker of Jordan's uncle who Jordan lives with.
The four of us usually spend our after school hours hanging out at the park, but Jesse has a backpack full of homework and Monica is going on a date with quite possibly the biggest douchebag I have ever met named Keith. I swear, I don't know what she sees in him.
As the school bell rings signaling the end of the school day, I walk with Jordan and the others out of the front building. "Monica, do you really have to date this dude? I mean his last girlfriend "mysteriously" broke her arm," I ask.
Monica looks at me with like I'm stupid. "This school is a boot camp full of people who enjoy beating each other up. If I go out with the scariest guy in school, nobody is gonna touch me," Monica says.
"Top notch logic there M," Jesse says sarcastically, giving a thumps up.
"If he does do anything stupid all you need to do is tell me and I'll make sure that guy doesn't put his hands on anyone ever again," Jordan says. Always being the defender, I can't tell how many times Jordan has gotten me out of a pinch with bullies throughout the years. Keith has another thing coming if he does hurt Monica.
"I'm not gonna end up like that last girlfriend, believe me," Monica says. "He's gonna get me through this hell hole scratch free."
"Whatever you say, see ya guys. My dad is here see ya," Jesse says as he jogs over to his dad's pick up truck.
We all waved bye as we continued on and soon Monica's "boyfriend" came and picked her up in his Dad's Hatchback. Soon it was just me and Jordan walking together talking about the most popular show on TV, Pokemon.
"I don't get how it got so big!" I yell. "It's just a show about a boy who leaves to become this great champion, but its been 8 bloody seasons and he hasn't done anything."
"I on the other hand kinda like it. It's fun to watch," he said to my astonishment.
"Oh Jordan, not you to. I can't believe this you're becoming my brother, oh the horror!" I said making Jordan laugh a bit.
"Stop overreacting, I don't love the show, I just think it's a little cool," Jordan says. "I also like the creator Satoshi Tajiri, the man is a creative genius."
I look at him with a stupid smug smile. "You of all people would actually look up the creator of the show," I sigh. "Am I the only person who actually dislikes this show?"
"Pretty much," he said as he began to run. "RACE YA TO THE ENTRANCE TO THE PARK!"
This is almost like tradition for us and I begin to pick up speed as well and soon enough we're both side by side running toward the park. As we ran I could see in the distance the park and all its green glory. The park wasn't much it was just a few yards of grass and a small baseball field. As we enter the park Jordan gets out a football out of his backpack.
"Go long!" he yelled. So I run as fast I can go and he throws the football and I catch it. My grandfather who is was a retired football coach said when I was young I could join the major leagues with these arms.
As we throw the football around, an old woman sits on a bench not too far from us, her gaze focusing on only me. Jordan throws the football high into the air, the old woman flicks her finger and the ball suddenly changes trajectory and instead of going toward me, lands near the old lady. As I run over to pick it up, the old lady has already gotten off her bench and picked up the football.
"Thank you," I said.
"I watched you play. You have good reflexes. It will help you in the future," she said smiling.
"Thanks, I guess," I said.
"My name is Margret, and your name?" she asked giving me the ball.
"Hunter. So Margret, what kind of things do you do," I asked. When I meet someone knew I always ask what their job is. My parents say it's wrong to do that but curiosity just takes over.
Margret softly giggles. "Oh me, haha, well if you really want to know," Margret says. "I'm a witch."
I have to say I was a little nervous when she said she was a witch. As weird and sudden as my question, just calling yourself a witch isn't really sane either. Was she going to turn me into a toad or something.
I guess she saw my nervous stare. "Oh, sorry to frighten you. I am not one of those witches that fly around on brooms and cast evil incantations on people," she said.
Jordan ran over next to me. "Hey, Hunter who is this?" he asked looking at me.
"My name is Margret, I just told your friend my little secret," she said.
"What is the secret?" he asked still looking at me.
"She says she's a witch," I said not even believing it myself. Who goes around telling teenagers that you're a witch?!
"Really, alright Margret, show me some magic," Jordan says.
"May I have that ball back?" Margret asks putting her hand out. I give Margret back the football, but just as I'm about to let go of the ball, Margret retracts her hand, but instead of the ball falling to the ground the football floats in place in the air. Looking at Margret, the irises in her eyes are completely blue.
"You are a witch!" I say in astonishment. I couldn't believe it! A real witch right in front of us.
"How can you do that?" Jordan asks.
"It's called Psychic, the most basic Psychic-type move," Margret says, before returning tossing the football back to Jordan. "But showing off my powers wasn't what I came here to do, I came for you, Hunter."
"Me , what do you want with me?" I asked with great surprise.
Margret points her finger from me to Jordan. "And you will also accompany him on his journey," she said in a serious manner.
"You're weird," he said as he began to walk off. "Come on Hunter, lets go."
As Jordan walks off Margret's eyes glowed as Jordan is suddenly thrust back to the ground.
"Get off of me," he yelled. " Someone help me. I'm being attacked.
No one walking even glanced over like they couldn't here us…like we weren't even there.
"What are you going to do to us," I asked scared, thinking that we were going to be killed by this crazy old witch.
"If you both calm down I will tell you what is going on," Margret said in a less serious voice. But I could see in her eye that she was very serious. So both me and Jordan listen to what she has to say.
"What do you want," Jordan says in a very annoyed way.
"I do believe in this world, there is such a thing known as Pokemon am I right?" she asked. We both nodded, not knowing where this was going. "Well, the story and everyone in it are real living people, even the Pokemon.
"You go to be kidding, really?" I said. Now that's a stretch, even after seeing her float a football in front of my eyes, the idea that the show Pokemon…POKEMON is actually based on real people! What universe did I just wake up in?
"Um, your joking. There's a world somewhere else that has little furry creatures. Come on, you got to be joking," Jordan said.
"There is a world," she said. "And right now that world is in great danger
"Danger?" I said.
"The peaceful world that houses both humans and Pokemon is being threatened by a man by the name of Cyrus, I do not know what his plans are, but the Legendary Pokemon Arceus foretold of a human from this planet that could stop Cyrus" she said. "I know this all sounds too much for the both of you, but Arceus believes you, Hunter, to be the one to defeat him. Your journey begins now."
Me and Jordan both looked puzzled. Journey, what journey? "Margret, what do you mean by journey? Your not seriously thinking of sending us there?" Jordan asked. He was scared and I was too.
"I am afraid so young ones. But don't worry, Ash Ketchum has been notified of your arrival and will help you," Margret says.
"This Cyrus guy. Is he powerful?" I asked.
"No, but, we don't know his real plan. All we know is that it involves the destruction of the world of Pokemon," she said. Wow, she just went from trying to reassure us to scaring the living shit out of us. "Time is running short. I need both of you to go to the Pokemon World now, stop Cyrus and his group and save the Pokemon world from complete destruction," she commanded. She lifted her hands and her eyes turned pure white. A black vortex forms right next to me. "Go now. This portal can't stay open forever."
The vortex all of a sudden pulls us in until we both are inside falling. I see the opening close as we are now covered in darkness. It seemed like hours passed as we are falling in what seems to be a bottomless pit.
"Hunter look!" Jordan shouted. He must have been next to me the entire time. I look around until I see a glimmer of light in the distance. Hope seeps into me as I see the exit out of this chasm of darkness. As we got close I had to shield my eyes from the brightness. I suddenly begin to get groggy and I begin to faint into darkness.
