The following is a wee sonnet I cranked out awhile back after reading (and subsequently falling in love with) Hamlet. I'd never thought to post it before...I guess I hadn't realized that FF even had a Hamlet following, but much to my delight it does, apparently. This is sort of a post-mortem soliloquy type deal. Hope ye like it.

Soliloquy

-

To live, to die, to sleep—perchance to dream.

But in this mortal slumber, nightmares come,

Which follow Hades' pestilential theme,

Turn marrow into ice, make limbs grow numb.

-

The whispers of a saint or Satan spurred

My dull revenge. I stalked shy Certainty

And now with mask of madness lie interred,

The prey of rotten Denmark's villainy.

-

My conscience made a coward none will know,

A mutely mourning mystery, still intact—

Now bones (I knew him not, Horatio),

Made shade by men of more impulsive act.

-

The rest is silence, secrets never guessed.

Now flights of angels sing me to my rest.

I know you won't bother to write a review for fourteen lines, but I figured it was worth a shot to ask.
