A/N: The dialogue for this just sort of popped into my head at practice, so I figured I'd write it down and this was the result. I know that Olivia will struggle with keeping the secret about where Peter is from if she does decide not to tell him, so this sort of evolved because of that. Thanks as always to Joy!

Hope you enjoy!

"What are you thinking about?" Peter said, not even looking up from the stack of papers in front of him. It unnerved you sometimes that he could read you so well even without taking one glance in your direction. It had been hard keeping such a huge secret from him. He'd noticed your distance, endured your continuous excuses to go places on your own. You thought you were protecting him from the truth, but every day you found yourself swallowing that lie as you saw the inevitable flash of pain in his eyes. He wasn't as good at hiding it from you as he was from the rest of the world.

You sighed. He was the one you usually came to when you had a problem, but all you could think about now was how you may have ruined his life by bringing him to Boston in the first place.

"I'm sorry." You said. His eyes left the paper and met your face for the first time. "I'm sorry I kept you here…" You trailed off, looking down, unable to meet his intense gaze.

"Where is this coming from? You trying to get rid of me Olivia Dunham?" He teased.

"Peter, I'm being serious." You said, almost pleading with him to understand what you were trying to say even if there was no possible way he could.

He reached for your hand then, the first time he had reached out to you since that night. "So am I."

You looked at his hand on yours. There was a time when you may have pulled away. Any day now it might be his. You remained quiet, unable to vocalize what you wanted. You knew you could never ask him to stay.

"I'm not going anywhere." He said finally, laughing slightly. He knew that was all he was going to get out of you today. "Plus Walter has it in his mind to build a whole lab in our basement. Someone's going to have to talk him out of that one."

You forced a smile and went back to your work.

You wished you were still fearless.
