This is my first attempt at writing anything to do with any sort of fandom. I don't really know what it is, but it was fun to write.

It had been almost two years since he had left. Two years and they had hardly talked to each other, because "it's for the best, really" and "we don't want the same things anymore", and she has to admit, he was right. A relationship which had always been so full of passion and arguments and fun and excitement, simmered down over the years until they were just watching the days go by without really living.

Shocked faces had gaped back at them when they'd told everyone that they were going to separate. They'd all said things like "it's just a phase" and "every couple goes through this" but deep down they knew that it was over. It had been over for a long time, and they had gone to being more like best friends than lovers. It was unfair to stay attached to each other like that.

So he had left, and she had stayed, and they had stopped talking. She had started seeing a new man, and he was exciting and fresh and passionate and he made her feel younger than she had in years, and it just felt right again. He had moved to a whole new country and met a man who was different and fucked up and crazy and everything exciting to him, and it made him realize that, ok, it's not so bad to try new things, because now he felt alive and it was like a drug to him.

Two years can do a lot to a person. And when he finally goes home and sees her again, and everyone is there, and she's got her new man, and he's got his, it just seems like the most natural thing in the world, because really, they've started living again.
