Elements
By: The I.M.P.
Earth. Fire. Wind. Water. The four elements that made up his world. They were so different, yet, they had bonded together to form a friendship so deep, so abiding, they couldn't live apart.
Water. The first to die. The biggest and the strongest of all of them, the family man, the hope of the entire wizarding world. James. Prongs. Chaser. All were words that described him to the fullest, yet none captured his soul. Perhaps, Lily Evans Potter and Harry James Potter could do it. Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and until the last five minutes of his life, Peter Pettigrew. He was always with his family and friends, except for when he died. Being the first to go was hard, but not nearly as hard as being the last. Without the water, soon all else falls apart and dies.
Wind. Insubstantial and forever changing. Seemingly harmless, until other factors are added in, and then it can be deadly. Knocking over everything in its path. Crushing and destroying. Wind is an independent force. It works separate of the other three elements, not caring about them. Choosing only what it wants to choose.
Fire. He was fiery, who knew that better than the other Marauders? Too many times did they have to pull Sirius back before he did something stupid, which happened on a daily basis. He was unpredictable and wild, in other words, the perfect complement to James' love for pranks and adventures and Remus' level-headedness and head for strategy.
Together they were invincible. The Four Marauders. You would never see one without the other three. Even in the seventh year, when James started to date Lily, the other three would tag along, (FAR behind, usually under James' invisibility cloak) planning a prank on the two lovebirds.
And life continued. Laughs were had, dreams and fears were shared, pranks were pulled, and they never dreamed that one day, they might be separated.
Except for in the mind of one. Peter was often seen without the Marauders, and vice versa. They thought, perhaps they were growing up and growing apart, but Peter had a different idea. After the 7th year, he came back and was closer to them than ever before. And they accepted him back into the fold, no questions asked. Until five years later, when their world was blown apart.
Water was gone. Wind was gone. And now fire was gone. Leaving one little Marauder all alone.
Earth. The most stable and firm of all the elements. It is steady; still it changes, for all things do, but it alone bears the scars of the past. Remus had been tortured with loss from an early age, but nothing had hurt him quite so badly, cut him so deep, as the last 15 years. Death, loss, destruction and betrayal, things no human being should ever go through, but sadly, all do. But, not quite as often as the poor, lonely werewolf.
But one day, he finds it all too much to bear. And instead of a stable and harmonious earth, made up of four elements, you will find a void. Blank, empty, unbearable.
And all hope is gone. For there is nothing to stand on, nothing to breathe, nothing to warm your cold and unfeeling heart, and nothing to quench your thirst. For without the elements there is nothing.
Wow. Does this have a point? Probably not! Oh well! It was an idea that popped into my head, and unless I wrote it down it would claw my brain like a rabid monkey until I died or had brain surgery, neither one of which I think would be fun.
I.M.P. Hah! Rabid Monkeys! Do you have a problem with rabid monkeys? Well, too bad, because I'm a rabid monkey! Yea rabid monkeys! I'll sick my rabid monkey family on you unless you review, and I know you don't want rabid monkeys clawing at your brain! Because I have my ways at finding out where you live. Muhahahahaha! Hee hee hee!
