3 struggled in the scientist's grip, before being gently placed down on a desk. Almost immediately he lost his balance, trying to look at everything all at once. The next second he was up and awkwardly running to the nearest object.

…book?

The scientist lightly chuckled at 3's endless curiosity before turning to the waiting form of his next creation. He knew he should probably rest, but felt he must press on.

He sat in front of the setup, 4 now hanging in the middle. The talisman was set in its place and the sequence pressed.

3 looked up from his book as the room glowed green. Not wanting to miss anything interesting he rushed over. The scientist was slumped in his chair groaning. He looked exhausted and pale, like he was sick. 3 climbed all over the scientist to document this. Or he would have, had he not spotted the odd figure in the center of a strange ring. It looked like something he might have seen before. Oh…….himself. The scientist sat up in his chair and reached over 3 to undo the bindings on his new creation.

It stirred. 3 felt an unfamiliar excitement grow in him. Of course, being only a few minutes old everything was unfamiliar, but something about it had the sense of the utmost importance. A second later, and this new being was placed with him face to face.

4, it was written. She stumbled forward into his arms, and they both collapsed.

He sat up and took in her features.

Blue. Small. Light—

His analysis was interrupted as she rotated around him, her own eyes flashing. An awkward struggle ensued as they both tried to look at the entirety of each other. Yet again they tripped up into a tangled heap. 3 silently laughed.

He got up and helped his sister to her feet.

.

Come! I want to show you something!

.

It was then he realized he had no idea how to communicate. He focused his thoughts at her as if she could somehow sense them.

.

Come see the book!

.

He waved his arms around wildly. This would not do. He had the sense that normally, people use this thing called 'speaking'. But for him, that turned out to be no more effective than attempted telepathy. His mind was practically screaming the words. His eyes flashed in frustration. 4's face lit up and he found his own thought reflected back at him in her eyes. Success! A silly grin spread across his face.

They skipped hand in hand to read their first book together.
