Ward had broken up with Skye 71 days ago. Not that she was counting or anything. Skye was in cold turkey mode and it was working just fine. At least that's what she kept telling Jemma.

Skye sat down in her couch, sighing. It was Saturday night, Jemma was busy and Skye was feeling miserable and alone. She knew she was better than this asshole, but somehow forgetting about him was harder that she would have thought. She had stopped the ice cream regime about twenty days ago and that was definitely a sigh that she was getting there.

Her phone rang. Without looking at the caller's ID, she picked up, thinking that some distraction was welcome.

"Hello?"

"FITZ!"

Skye froze in panic. It has been 52 days since the last time she had heard this voice. When her and Ward awkwardly bumped into each other at a party. Hearing his voice, Skye felt like memories punched her in the face.

"Fitz, I need to talk to you!" Ward continued and Sky realized that he was drunk. Like Christmas party 2011 drunk.

"Ward, I…" Skye started, but Ward interrupted.

"Fitz, I made the biggest mistake of my life with Skye". His voice broke.

Skye froze again. First of all, she was confused on how he could think she was Fitz as Ward's best friend had the voice of a Scottish man and she was an American woman. Second of all, she wanted to hear what was to come. She used her manliest voice and asked:

"What do you mean?"

"She was too good for me, man…" Ward said. "She deserves better, but I can't be happy without her. Now she hates me and what we had is gone forever.

Skye felt as if her heart was as big as her chest, she took a deep breath and whispered:

"Ward…"

There was a gasp at the end of the line, followed by a long silence.

"Skye?" he asked.

"Yeah…"

"I'm sorry."

"Why'd you break up?" Skye asked. "If that's how you feel?"

"I'm not good enough for you, Skye…", he answered. "I'm a bad person"

"You don't think I have skeleton? You're not a bad person Ward."

"I love you, Skye, since the beginning, for a thousand years and a thousand more."

Skye's eyes watered.

"Why are you telling me this?"

Ward had a little laugh.

"Because I'm dead drunk and every reasons I tell myself why I shouldn't be with you just seem like nothing right now."

"Ward…" Skye said, breathing fast, "I love you too."

There was a sound that sounded like Ward had taken another shot.

"I'll call you back when I'm sober"

And he hung up.

Skye put her phone down and covered her face in her hands. Eventually she laid down on the couch, with her eyes wide open. She stayed like this for hours before eventually falling asleep. Everything was turning in her head as she wondered what was going to happen next.

At 10:00 am the morning after, her phone rang. She stared at the caller ID for a few seconds before answering.

"Ward?"

"Skye! Hey sorry I had too much to drink last night and I don't remember a thing, but I saw I called you twice…?"

Skye's heart fell to her chest and her eyes teared up again.

"Oh…", she said, "you…"

"Just kidding I'm at your front door with flowers, wanna go breakfast?"

Skye started laughing and as she opened the door, the tears joined in. He hugged her tight, the scent of flowers spreading around them.

"I love you. I will always love you."
