CHAPTER 1: A BLOODY NIGHTMARE (UPDATED VERSION)

A/N: Hey guys, I'm updating this entire fanfic. The plot is going to change a bit but not too much. I just feel like I have to try and make it more mature and improve on a lot of things. I still accept criticism and try to improve based on them. All thoughts are in bold. Well, I hope you enjoy!

Mikan's P.O.V

It was a seemingly normal day with blue skies and a soft breeze blowing through the leaves of very green trees. I sat underneath a tree with large leaves so it provided the perfect shade to a perfect day. As I was just starting to relax, a falcon flew in and perched on this majestic tree. Wait….a falcon? The sky suddenly blackened and the clouds turned blood red and the large tree suddenly had no more leaves. The falcon morphed into a vulture with a very sickening sound and I could not help but voice out my confusion and slight fear. "What is going on?" I hoped someone would answer me but no one was there to alleviate my fears.

The rain started to pour down. It took me a while to notice that it was not rain at all but instead it was blood. I froze as I felt a scream creeping up my throat until I finally heard myself release a finger curling scream. I kept on screaming in complete terror for what seemed like hours before I finally heard it. "Kan…Mikan, wake up!" I opened my eyes and saw Hotaru standing in front of me with a scowl on her face. She was probably annoyed that I was screaming in my sleep again. "Is this the same nightmare you've been having for the past few weeks?" She asked me and I just responded with a weak nod. She sighed before commenting as she walked out of the room. "Get some more sleep; bear with it for a few more hours then we'll see what we can do." She's right….just a few more hours. With that I slept once again, only to continue that drea- no, nightmare once again.

The ground was now completely covered in blood. Trying to compose myself, I looked up, and saw a dark shape coming towards me. I tried to stand up in a new wave of panic, only to find that the dark shape was a boy, about my age. He had crimson eyes, jet raven hair and had a pained expression on his face. He was…covered in blood and I wondered why. "What happened to you?" I asked but he only reached out to me with his right hand and asked for my help softly. "Help…me." I was sure I had misheard him but after looking at him again, I was convinced that he really had asked for my help."Sure, but what happened to you?"I asked but he was already starting to disappear. "Help…..me," he said once more and that was the end of it, he was gone.

Natsume's P.O.V

I woke up, panting heavily from the dream I had just had once more. Looking at the clock on my bedside table, I saw that it was 4 am so I slumped back into bed with a deep sigh. I had dreamt of that girl once more and had no idea why I was dreaming of her or why I had asked her for help in the first place; I didn't even know her. In the dream,I had just come back from a mission and was making my way back to the academy. It was annoyingly peaceful, when suddenly I got stabbed in the back by a dagger. I ran, as fast as my legs could take me so that I could get the help that I needed back at the academy but the sky had suddenly gone dark. I stopped since I sensed someone's presence and looked around but I found no one there. Suddenly I heard a scream, forgetting about the dagger in my back, I ran towards the scream and in front of me stood a petit girl with auburn hair tied to a ponytail with chocolate brown eyes.

I was so mesmerised by her features that I accidentally asked her for help. "Help…me." Why did I just ask for help from such a small girl? She doesn't look capable of doing anything at all. "Sure, but what happened to you?" I was shocked by the fact that she agreed to help a stranger but I could feel myself waking up. With the last energy I had, I asked for her help once again, I mean, if she was willing to help then there is no harm done. "Help…..me." And that was it; my eyes fluttered open and I realised I had fully woken up but her face stayed fresh in my mind. The fact that I had dreamt of her so many times perplexed me. I wondered what was so special about her that made me feel so drawn to her every time I saw her. Slowly, the memory of her face began to fade away like most dreams do but somehow, I felt that I was soon to know and understand who she was and what made her so special. Looking at the clock again, I decided not to go back to sleep and just wait until the sun came up and begin my morning routine.

At first my mind was blank as I stared up at the ceiling, but slowly, a memory began to make an appearance. My mom and her best friend had decided to have an afternoon tea party when I was around 6 years old. My mom's best friend, I forgot her name, came with her daughter who was around the same age as me. I enjoyed messing around with her, but I guess it all began when she was running towards her mom and didn't see the tree trunk protruding out of the earth. I guess it all began when she tripped over it.
