Disclaimer: Harry Potter belongs to J.K. Rowling. I make no claims to ownership.

Note: This is really just to vent about a lot of characterization in the fandom. And, if you take CC as canon, that too.

Their Names

"James Sirius," Harry said quietly. "Your name is actually pretty good. Except you look nothing like them, because for some reason the fandom likes to give you red hair and brown eyes. Even though Albus Dumbledore was the one with auburn hair. Go figure. Oh, and stop being an arrogant bully."

"Albus Severus," Harry said quietly. "You were named after a man who spent sixteen years trying to get me killed, and another man who spent seven years bullying me. Also I thought it was ironic for a Severus to have Lily Evans' eyes. So basically you're my clone. Good luck, kid. Oh, and you'll definitely be in Slytherin with your name. Even though you don't exhibit any traits for that house."

"Lily Luna," Harry said quietly. "Your name is pretty good, too. I like Luna. I went to a party with her once. And yeah your mum called her Loony, but maybe they became friends while I was out hunting horcruxes. I don't really know, since her character was hardly developed. Really we just liked the alliteration. Oh, and you're a clone too. Sorry."

"Fred Weasley," George said quietly. "You were named for my twin brother. The fandom likes to make you look just like him even though it's really not likely with you being half-black. Possible, but not likely…"

"George Weasley, you better not be pulling a Harry!" Angelina yelled.

"Hugo Weasley," Ron said quietly. "You were named for your mum's favorite author, Victor Hugo, but I couldn't let you be named Victor because I still have jealousy issues…"

"Ron," Hermione sighed.

"And it was really cool to have all of our first initials match…"

"Ronald!" she said more sharply.

"Molly Weasley," Percy said solemnly, which was extremely different from being quiet. "You were named for my mother because I needed to show that I really do love her. I'm sorry it's so diminutive-sounding."

"It's alright, Dad," she replied with a shrug. "It's better than Lucy, at least."

"Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy," Draco drawled. "It's a rather pompous name, isn't it? Good luck getting rid of the family prejudices. Unfortunately you'll be in Slytherin, which won't help with that, and you'll be bullied. Probably by James Potter. But when you become best friends with Potter's kid, maybe Potter will finally notice me…"

AN: I firmly believe that when James was born, Harry saw the black hair and said, "He's gotta be James." Same thing happened with Lily for her hair.
