Sleepless Night
She stood staring out into the rain. The sky was cold and grey, darkening the world around her. Even the lamps and lights seemed dimmer and more yellow in the gloom. She was unsure of herself in the morning shadows. He had said so many things to her, words of love that she believed when they were awake or wrapped in each other's arms. But in her current lonely state, the doubts, usually kept at bay, woke her in the early morning and kept her awake until dawn broke over the horizon. She turned to look back at her empty bed, wishing he were there to chase away her worries. He had been away for the evening, spending time with his son. She didn't envy him the time he wanted to spend with his child, but she hated not being able to sleep. Her logical mind told her to stop and to go back to sleep, or get to work, but he'd awakened her heart and it was currently in control.
It was nearing seven when she heard the lock turn in the door. He was the only person to have keys to her apartment. He walked in and shrugged out of his jacket. He caught sight of her standing at the window as he entered her bedroom.
"Hey, what are you doing up?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her from behind.
"I couldn't sleep." She answered. "You're up early too. Did you already drop off Parker?"
"Yeah, his mom came and got him at six. He was still asleep. They're going to her mothers for a week, but she wanted me to see him before they left."
"That was nice of her. But aren't you tired?"
"I am, which is why we should go back to bed." He started backing up toward the bed, pulling her along with him. When they were both lying down, she curled into his chest.
"I missed you." She said quietly. "That's why I couldn't sleep."
"I missed you too, Bones." He mumbled into her hair.
"Would you consider moving in with me?" She asked suddenly, sitting up and looking at him. Her question jolted him into full wakefulness.
"Are you sure you would want me to live here?" She nodded.
"We could make the third bedroom into a room for Parker. I want you both to be in my life fully. I love you Booth."
"Ok. If you're sure, I'll move into your place.
"Our place." She corrected gently.
"Our place. Now sleep." He pulled her down until her heard rested on his chest.
