He'd never noticed her before, she'd just been there. She'd been one of them. But when she'd stood up for him when they'd thrown their snowballs, when she'd encouraged him to fight back...
She'd noticed him much longer before, watching with admiration; knowing that one day he would do great things. The other children, and the parents, they didn't understand. They couldn't see him as she saw him.
He didn't care much for her, barely noticed his heart warming when she helped him and stood by his side through it all. She was going to turn out like the others, and refused to acknowledge that maybe she wouldn't.
She cared a ridiculous amount for him, and her only request was to hold his hand... She saw his mistrust and she kept running after him and pretended it didn't bother her... She would not let it bother her.
When she got knocked down by one of his minions, she held her hand out, begging for him to help her up. Just hold her hand for one moment. Just one second.
He turned his back to her coldly.
He'd begun thinking about her, after his return to that place. That horrible, ugly town that would have sacrificed his life for theirs. He didn't want to be there, only staying to crush their spirit and have his revenge. Where is she?
She'd stopped thinking about him after a few years, letting her hope slowly dwindle. Her mother said it was just as well to have her heart broken then have kept chasing after him. Even now she wondered... Where is he?
He thought she looked wonderful after all this time, growing into her body, and her beauty was obvious. He was surprised to find himself hoping she would still chase after him like when they were children.
She thought he was very handsome, and his armour only enhancing the whole appearance. He'd grown up. She wasn't surprised to find the love sprout up within her again, and ran after him.
She got knocked down by one of his minions, and a swift kick sent it flying. She held her hand out, begging for him to help her up. Just once...
He grasped her hand tightly.
