Prologue
As they crawled onto shore, sopping wet, Hector Barbossa had a moment of extreme déjà vu. The desert wasteland looked strangely familiar...
Chapter 1
"He didn't waste it." Referring to the bullet that Will Turner had just shot, Jack Sparrow dropped the gold coin into the chest. Barbossa gasped, realizing that he was done for. As soon as all 800 of the ancient Aztec coins were reunited, his curse of immortality would be broken. Hardly having time to look down at the bleeding hole in his chest, the great captain fell backwards onto the pile of treasure. Barbossa was dead.
He felt like he was waking up from a long nap. When he finally managed to force his heavy eyes open, Hector Barbossa realized that he was lying on the floor of a small wooden longboat. The dinghy was lit only by a small lantern; it was pitch black all around. As Barbossa pulled himself up to sit on the bench crossing the boat, he realized that he was sailing in the middle of the ocean. "Bloody Jack Sparrow..." he muttered. He took a quick look at his surroundings, and suddenly realized that he was not alone. There were other people, it seemed, in boats just like his as far as the eye could see. "Hello," Barbossa said to the elderly lady in the boat next to his, "Could you tell me exactly WHERE we are?" The lady did not respond until Barbossa rapped his hand on the side of her dinghy. "Oh, hello, Dear. How are you?" "I'm fine, madam, I was wondering if you knew where it is we're sailing to?" The old lady frowned. "No, Captain, I don't have my makeup kit. I left it behind when it was my time. Shame.. You could have used it!" It was Barbossa's turn to frown. "You left it behind?" "Yes dear, my death was quite horrible. I don't like to talk about it.." Barbossa gasped. "Death?! I was right to suspect Sparrow from the beginning.. The bastard's gone and killed me." Suddenly, he sensed something behind him. As he slowly turned, a ship fifty times bigger than his dinghy slowly came into view.
