Forsake

As darkness falls, she dreams

Of the spirit she cannot see.

As snow falls from the heavens,

She cries for what cannot be.

Within dreams, she cannot reach him

However hard she tries.

She hears him call out to her,

But suddenly all she hears are lies.

Her pain echoes with her,

Though she tries to dull the ache.

But nothing can save her;

No voice can awake.

She holds out her hand

As the black turns to gray

And with each note,

Her fear lingers at bay.

His haunted melody

Then whispers in her ear,

Putting into existence

All she used to fear.

She grasps for the light

That he left behind.

But nothing survives the darkness;

No, fate is not so kind.

And perhaps nothing can save her,

Yet there lies another light.

But it's deep within the darkness,

And, for it, one must fight.

But can she survive long enough

To journey through the black?

Can she go through the Kingdom,

And find and bring them back?

What must she give?

And what must she take?

What futures await her,

If it's not too late?

She must forsake it all,

Her worries, fears, and pain,

For only bravery and time will tell

What lies beyond the rain.
