Prologue:Death

High in the cold mountains of the west, a house stood. This manor was exquisite, a great example of feudal long mansion was shrouded in night time shadows, silent but for desperate screams of a single woman and the angry creatures within.

"Kill her quickly, before he returns!" The Convoluted mass of darkness hissed, his dark tone allowing no argument. The lizards made their way forward, several sharp blades raised to strike. The lady scrambled backwards, her already injured arm curled around her bloated belly. She slipped on the dark liquid that stained the wooden floors, her messy auburn locks falling into her eyes again as she let out a final piercing cry.

"Sesshomaru!" She screeched, sobbing as she curled into an awkward fetal position, protecting her child, her son who had yet to taste life. She lay on the floor, hair tangled and clothing bloodstained and thrown askew, face damp with painful tears and coughing from the purple haze that filled the room.

Then she was lifted gingerly from the floor and the manor was miles away, but her pain did not cease, the wounds covering much of her wouldn't vanish instantly. She gave a loving look to her savior, her knight in silver armor. He kissed her forehead gently and set her down, hands hovering over her child heavy abdomen.

"I knew you would come," She sighed, resting a pale hand on his striped cheek. He leaned into the gentle caress, golden eyes sad.

"Always," He replied, the deep voice filled with sorrow. "If only I had arrived sooner."

"There was nothing you could have done. Once I had been chosen, their hatred would not be sated until my blood was on their hands." She drew in another unsteady breath, and her lover clasped the teens limp hands.

"But I should have been here, I could have stopped this." She cut him off with a gentle kiss.

Her skin was growing paler, and her kimono was now more red than white.

"I will have to go soon, and our child will sadly be coming with me. The moon is telling me the time has come, but I have a feeling this is not the end for this life. I know that as a soon to be goddess I shouldn't ask this of you, but avenge me. I will see you again, but it will not be in death."

"I swear to the, Lady of the West, you shall be avenged and I will await your return for the rest of my immortal life," He whispered, amber orbs filled with sorrow.

"Till the new moon rises, my love," She breathed, her body falling still. One soft heartbeat later, and she was gone.

He laid her down gingerly and pressed a final kiss to her forehead and belly before standing and backing away. She vanished under the pale moonlight, leaving no trace but the bloodstained kimono on the ground.

Sesshomaru transformed and howled his anguish to the sky.

Every story ends with a wedding or a funeral, and every story begins with hope, or with death in mind. i'm going through everything i have written and taking away of the terrible things I've discovered in my own writing, I hope you all find this more satisfactory than the original and my second try.
