As the Hogwarts Express pulled into the building, Bill Weasley was waiting since there was a potential criminal on board. Her name was Tabitha Ren. She was 11 and the foster daughter of a friend of his. Her parents and older brothers were all in Azkaban for using the impervious or killing curse. She still was allowed to visit them but people suspected her of being the same. "William," Fleur called and he shook his head as he realized that all the kids were off the train. Including the young lady with a prison-bound family. She was inside and following the Headmistress. Headmistress Allison Gern was a very fair lady. She understood some things. She was also very open to the idea of bringing Tabitha to Hogwarts. Just because her pureblood family was evil didn't mean she was.
"Sorry. What house do you think she is? Where were her brothers?"
"Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Only one brother got Ravenclaw, the rest were Slytherin. But she already walks around differently. She doesn't fit the description we heard about her," Percy responded. Bill nodded and then walked into the dining hall and saw all the kids were up front.
"We welcome all of our returning students back and a big hello to our new students. The new students will soon receive their houses. I know you all will be an exceptional addition to our school," she responded. As everyone's names were called, Bill grew worried. Tabitha was in the ending spot. "Tabitha Ren," she called.
As Tabitha walked up and sat on the stool, the Sorting Hat was placed on her head. "Hmmm. Azkaban kid and smart? I wonder where you belong. What is it that makes you different? You don't belong in the same house as them," the hat began. Bill smiled in relief when the hat basically pointed out she wasn't a Slytherin. "You love to study, but are loyal to your friends and family. You hate injustice and corrupt people and won't hesitate to talk. I think it's time we put you somewhere," it announced and everyone was watching. Especially after hearing the mention of Azkaban. Bill and Percy were practically squashing their stomachs on the table as they waited for the big announcement. "Gryffindor!" Percy and Bill cheered and watched as the other kids dragged her over. She was pushed over to by them and she looked away. Bill knew why too. Bill's friend was her foster father and she feared his reaction.
"Look, everyone, it's the prisoner girl," a Slytherin greeted. Bill knew her by name. The Slytherin was Avril Avalin. She hated the fact that there was a girl who had no parents going to Hogwarts.
"Just leave me alone. I don't think it's that hard," she responded. Bill watched as she was avoiding conversations. It didn't fit a Gryffindor to the beginning but there was confidence that it would show soon.
"Little prison girl can't take the heat?" Bill noticed that Tabitha's eyes were changing color. But she looked to be fighting it. "Got anything to say?"
"I recommend stopping this. Right now. She's a student like you," Percy warned her. Bill noticed that her eyes finally rested on a color and they were the same color from when Tabitha first walked up to get her house.
"What happened?" He placed a hand on her shoulder and he noticed the danger in the situation. She was sweating and her face was pale. "Eat some food and then we can talk," he promised. She nodded and as she ate, there was evidence that not many people liked the fact that she had an Azkaban background.
As soon as there was freedom to return to the dorms, Percy and Bill escorted Tabitha back before the others happened to return. "Tabitha, what happened at dinner? We saw your eyes change," Percy warned.
"How noticeable was it?" Tabitha was clearly trying to cover something with the question.
"Not that bad. What's so big about your eyes changing color?" Bil was concerned.
"Being born in Azkaban does things to you," she mused before hearing the doors open. "Later," she promised. Bill and Percy nodded as she disappeared into her dorm. She had issues that needed to be kept hidden.
Meanwhile, Tabitha was looking into her eyes. "Why can't I stop you? You're supposed to be stuck in me and be asleep," she groaned. Her little brain at a young age had been infected with evil. So when she was 7, her foster dad discovered it. He began to teach her how to suffocate the evil in her. She couldn't stop it though. Once a year she went to see a friend and he used a spell to push down her evil.
As she looked in a mirror, she blinked as she saw the mirrored her move. "I'm you. That's why. I'm the version of you that needs to be free. Look at how those Slytherins are treating you," she hissed. Her voice was like acid dripping on steel.
"No. No, I don't. I'm okay the way I am. They just don't know that I'm different. But that's okay," she responded and Percy could see it through the door. He was watching and noticed exactly what Tabitha was hiding.
"That man weakened you. Plus those Weasleys?" Percy had to wince at the evil Tabitha's voice.
"The Weasleys care. I won't hurt them," she warned before shaking her head and Percy watched as the evil Tabitha vanished and only the one they met existed. "I will not hurt anyone," she vowed.
As she walked out, she saw Percy looking worried and Bill apprehensive. "What happened to you in Azkaban?"
