You might think that I made a terrible choice when giving up my son. But I was only doing what I thought would be best. I knew that it would be hard to give him up, but I just couldn't let him be killed by those two kittypets. So one day I left him near the clan's border, knowing that he would be safe there.
From a far distance I watched him grow up in ThunderClan. They seemed to treat him the same as any other clan cat. Even as an apprentice, he was able to learn the same battle moves as the others.
I won't forget when he met the current CatnipClan leader when she was an apprentice. Leopardpaw was the daughter of Blackstar, the leader of ShadowClan at the time. The two of them really liked each other, and sometimes met in secret.
I listened from a distance a gathering that was happening one night. That was when I heard about two of the clans declaring war on each other. I knew that now, my son would need to prepare for the battles ahead. But the days afterward, his scent slowly became faint. I tried to find him, to follow the scent. But it only lead to the lake. However, the scent of Leopardpaw was there as well. Somehow they left their clans together.
I thought that they had both drowned. I didn't see Leopardpaw and Foxpaw until much later. Some twolegs had found me and brought me to twolegplace. They said something about two cats who had been lost...I couldn't figure out anything else they spoke. I was surprised when I saw my son there and Leopardpaw, too. They had been here all along.
They started a clan together, CatnipClan. Several other cats had joined, and there were already a few other clans. He left to go to the clan camp, but was usually home before dark.
When he told me that he was going to become a real warrior, I understood. It was what he wanted since leaving the clans at the lake. So I let him join the clan, watching from the garden as they ripped the collar off his neck.
I don't want to leave the housefolk I have now. Life at the lake was hard, since those kittypets constantly tried to harm my only kit. All I want now is to relax and enjoy watching my son live the life of a warrior.
