-1THE DAY HE RETURNED.

SUMMARY: WHAT MARIAN REALLY FELT WHEN ROBIN RETURNED.

She was upstairs in her room, sewing a cut in her Nightwatchman out fit, when she heard a commotion down stairs and her fathers raised voice. Frowning she took the bow out from under her bed, and headed down stairs. She walked out the front door where all the noise was coming from, with her bow strung and ready to aim. But what she saw, was never what she expected.

She felt her heart beat and come back to life again. There he was standing right in front of her.

She wanted to drop the bow and run into his arms. To hold him and embrace him, to make sure that he was really and she wasn't just imagining it. But the look she saw on his face when he looked up and saw her. Changed her mind completely. He had looked at her with that smug grin, that he gave her so long ago. He thought that he could walk right back into her life and pick up where he left off. Forget all the hurt that he had caused her. Well he was wrong.

After her father and herself had told him rather rudely to leave. They entered the house she closed the door and leaned on it. She then looked at her father. Her face blank with expression.

Edward looked at his daughter leaning on the front door of the house. He could not imagine what she must be feeling right now. He knew that she loved Robin and it broke her heart when he left. He looked at her, her face was empty. She was trying to hide the happiness and love. But he could see it. There in the corner of her mouth she was fighting a war to hold back a smile. He could also see the light return to hey eyes. They were shining once again. But he knew Marian better than that. He knew that she would never just forget that he left her, and was going to make him pay for ever leaving. She was to headstrong and proud to admit that she still loved him. She would not let him have the satisfaction.

'Marian. He's back' Edward said silently, wandering what effect these words would have on his daughter.

'I know. I saw.' She simply said and then ran up the stairs to her room.

Edward smiled the fact that she had left the room at the mere mention, only showed that she still loved him.

Marian closed her room door and ran over to her window. She saw Robin and his faithful servant Much walking through Knighton, holding onto their horses. They were talking to some of the villagers. While leaving. At that moment all she wanted to do was shout to him and run into his arms and tell him never to leave again. But she couldn't do that. She couldn't let him see that leaving her all those years ago was easily forgotten or forgiven. But none the less. She felt like she was once again, alive now that he was back. Like her heart that had been dead for so long, has now started beating again. All because he came back to her. HE came home.
