A/N: Okay, Sorry, not sorry. I had this idea and wrote it. MY OTHER STORIES ARE BEING WRITTEN. But, I still don't ship Merthur.

I paraphrased that first sentence, how accurate is it to what he actually says? I WANNA KNOW! Takes place during the last episode of season 5!

Disclaimer: I only own the fact that I made this make your hearts break. Sorry, not sorry.

"Arthur, I stopped the Saxons. I stopped the dragon." I said, tears welling up in my eyes. I could feel him staring at me, those brilliant blue eyes that could break me.

"I know. I've known for awhile." His voice cracked as he confessed, "I've known since we first went to Ealdor. Will lied to protect you, I saw it in his eyes." he looked up at me and shook his head.

"W-why didn't you ever tell me?" My voice trembled. I couldn't bear the thought that he had known this whole time.

"I don't know, I should've had you killed all that time ago." He scowled, turning his head away from me. I felt the tears fall from my face as continued to stoke the fire, trying to distract the hateful words he had spoken to me.

"Why are you still here?" He asked, I heard the life fading from him as he struggled to sit up.

"Stop!" I warned him as I helped him lie back down. He breathed heavily for a moment, trying to regain the life that was trying to escape his body.

"Why are you still here? Just let me die. You and your sorcerer buddies can bring magic back." he spit the words out. He tried to look angry and mask the pain from his wound.

"That's not my job. My destiny is to serve you until I die, which is why I'm still here." I explained, turned to look at the trees in the distance.

"Why?" He was befuddled at all the actions that I had done for him over the years.

"Because I believe in your destiny." I smiled sadly, the thought that this great kingdom we were supposed to build together was never going to happen ate at the back of my mind, sending shivers down my back.

"What would that be?" He asked, fighting for breath. He was getting paler by the minute and wouldn't last long.

"You are the Once and Future King. You shall untie the five kingdoms into the greatest land ever. Everyone will be happy and you will be their king." My voice shook, I had only said these words to someone once in my entire life, they felt wonderful on my tongue.

"Well, now it's never going to happen." He chuckled sadly. I turned and saw the light fade from his eyes as he struggled to close them.

"Arthur? Arthur! Don't, no you can't leave me! Arthur?!"
