Okay everyone here is the first of three fanfictions for the Legacy of Kain video games series I'm going to post. This one is different from the other two because this one will be updated once every four weeks because this one is actually a school assignment. I decided to just write a fanfiction so that everything would be together and it would make my life a little easier since now I wont have to come out with a new idea every month. So this going to my chapters from each character's point of view... hope you enjoy. As for the title... its a Japanese Proverb I like and it fit in a weird way.
The Path of a Snake is a Serpent
蛇の道は蛇
Path One: Raziel
In the middle of a swamp lies the vampire Vorador's mansion. Once a glorious place for any but now it sits unused, a mere shell of its former self. It almost seemed to buried, not only rubble, but also time. Here a lonely creature sits inside an old but still impressive library. He quietly broods in a sort of self induced trance. What an odd creature… nothing natural. He stood at the height of a slightly taller then normal man. Short, dark hair held a semi-glisten. Eyes… well there were no eyes, just white could be seen where the eyes once were. However, the most frightening aspect of this creature was his whole body. His back held what seemed to be the remaining membranes of wings savagely torn off, but the shape of the body was horribly misshapen as there was no skin or guts in the visible empty space between his rib cage and pelvis. It truly was a frightening and sad sight. This creature seemed to have been the victim of some sort of castigation gone horribly wrong.
The creature sighed and lifted itself from the floor. Stretching a little before going to a large window. Outside was a beautiful sight of the swamp lands around him, but his eyes were not on the view. No, they were on the faint reflection in the glass.
"Look at yourself, Raziel. A mere corpse with a faint resemblance to your self. So different now… barely recognizable even by those who knew you all your life." Raziel said in a depressed tone. He remembered the old days when he was once a powerful lieutenant serving his sire loyally, but then Kain's cruel nature came forth and because of the Raziel was cast into the abyss… cursed to burn forever in the waters of the Lake of the Dead.
However, fate was not content with simply letting die. So thus the explanation of Raziel appearance. Cursed now to devour souls rather then blood.
The wraith hissed to himself, "My brethren not only watch as I die without just cause but probably were secretly exhorting." He raised his clawed hand to his forehead, "I had hoped to find solace from my own clan but fate decided to kill off all my bloodline, as my fortress lay bare and abandoned. I can remember making my way to Kain's throne demanding he pay for the wrong doings done to me and my innocent clan. He, however, wasn't even surprised to see me alive. That devil seemed to be as imperturbable as ever. Acting as though it was his prerogative to slaughter anyone who surpasses him in the chain of evolution." In a fit of anger he turns sharply as his clawed hand moved with lightening speed. A fragile shatter was heard and echoed throughout the library as an ancient vase cried out before laying on the ground in pieces. "Kain indeed deserves to die, especially, now that he doesn't even have a scintilla of humanity left." Raziel turned and made his way out of the library and then the mansion. Heading off to find the man whose choices condemned all of Nosgoth to an eternity of decay."
