'His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad,' first year Ginny Weasley thought to herself. She was scribbling all of this in a piece of parchment, hoping to give it to Harry. Harry Potter, oh how the name made her stomach flutter with butterflies the size of elephants… She always hoped that Harry Potter, the Chosen One, the Boy Who Lived, would fancy her as much as she fancied him.

'His hair as dark as a blackboard' Ginny kept writing on the parchment. She just hoped that he would like her card…

'I wish he was mine, he's really divine,' oh, he was. And Ginny truly did wish he was hers…

'The hero who conquered the Dark Lord' Ginny sighed and sat back in her chair, looking at her masterpiece. She folded the piece of parchment in half and drew a girl and a boy holding hands, but this boy had a lightning bolt scar on his forehead. She walked out of the girl's dormitory and out of the portrait hole, skipping and walking, toward the Great Hall. Oh, how she hoped that she would like her Valentine's Day card…
A dwarf saw her skipping and holding a folded piece of paper. As the dwarf walked over to her, she stopped skipping.

"You want me to deliver that for you, girl?" asked the dwarf.

"Er, sure..." Ginny answered awkwardly, quite a bit grateful that she didn't have to send this herself.

The dwarf looked at the boy in the drawing, quickly recognizing the lightning bolt shaped scar. "'Arry Potter...you got a crush on him?" Ginny didn't answer. The dwarf walked off without another word.

Ginny walked into the Great Hall, taking in the scent of eggs and bacon. She walked to the Gryffindor table and ate her breakfast calmly.

After breakfast, Ginny and the other first years walked out of the Great Hall, and Ginny saw that Harry was walking out of the Great Hall, having finished his breakfast, too. A dwarf suddenly pushed the first years roughly aside, heading for Harry. Ginny recognized the dwarf. Harry was about to get her card. The dwarf talked angrily to Harry, who, Ginny noticed, was red in the face, trying to get away from the dwarf. Draco and Percy came not long after Harry's bag tore. Harry stopped struggling and the dwarf started to, not hand over Ginny's card, but singing it. The dwarf finished and everyone was laughing. Harry joined in sheepishly, but Ginny saw he was embarrassed. Ginny got red in the face, and got embarrassed as well. 'I'm so silly. I should have given it to him in person...' Ginny thought to herself, trying to stop the tears from rolling down her face and running away from the crowd to the girl's bathroom.
