What's in a name?
A heck of a lot.
That's why Picardy Del'Armgo pondered what to name his beautiful starship for weeks. Sure, his dad had named it (Cindy of all things! He was starting to realize just how much of a cook his father had been, seriously…), but now that it was his, he knew he had to come up with the most amazing, stunning, absolutely perfect name in the galaxy! The problem was, he had no clue what that name was. Not yet, at least.
The first time he had flown his XS Freighter, he was fleeing from Csilla, leaving his family for good. Abandoning the Chiss Ascendancy, eschewing his Imperial background...he wondered if perhaps he could come up with a name for her if he drew upon memories of that first, exuberant flight. He had felt so free, sitting in the captain's chair. He knew he now had the galaxy at his fingertips - what could be better?
Alas, any name he came up with was far too cheesy and romantic (who names a ship "Galaxy", or "Freedom", or "I'm Not Your Slave" anyway?), so he abandoned that idea altogether. He ruminated on his dilemma in the Cargo Hold, admiring all the places he could easily store contraband. She was certainly a well used ship, and deserving of a better title than Cindy, or his own stupid names. But he knew - inspiration would strike!
In the meantime, Picardy decided to add his own personal touches (okay, the blaster burns weren't actually on purpose, but no one had to know that little detail…). He improved upon the medbay, adding more medpacs and kolto injections, and an extra comfortable bed because hey, he might as well go out in comfort, right? An idea struck - he could name her "My trusty medbay-" no, that was stupid.
When he met Corso, the "farmer boy" really didn't have any good suggestions either (Come on, Corso, there's no way the ship is being named "Separatist Smasher" or "Imperial Incender..er"). So Picardy gave up for a time, enjoying his adventures in the ship, but he continued to wonder what he could name her (really, it shouldn't be this hard…).
On a whim, one day, the captain decided to read through the journal entries his father had left behind in the Captain's Quarters. He found an account of the very first time "Cindy" had flown.
I "happened" upon the most glorious thing today - my very own freighter! Oh, if my parents could see me now…
I doubt they'd be happy, but back to the sheer awesomeness of Cindy. That's what I've decided to call her. I heard a human call their mother that once - I like it, it's a quaint little name, befitting of a vessel of this magnificence. The first time I started that engine...oh, did she purr. She zipped through the stars with grace, easily the smoothest ride I've ever had through turbulent space. I definitely don't regret acquiring this. I'm going to make a bloody fortune!
Lookout, galaxy, I'm coming for you. Discreetly, of course - in fact, I'll probably just sabotage your supply lines.

Picardy's lips curved up into a smile. Oh yes, he recognized his father in every word. And just like that, a name occurred to him - Grace. It was short, sweet, and it wasn't totally divergent from the original name...yes, Grace would do nicely.
With that, the captain sank into his luxurious chair, placing his hand on the ship's frame affectionately. "Let's see what you can do, Grace," he murmured, grinning and plotting a course to who knows where - who cared, after all? Certainly not him, and he doubted she minded much, either.
