A/N: Okay, this may seem OOC, but I don't really think it is. I mean, Hiruma's a smart guy; I don't think that he thinks exactly the way he talks. Everyone is different in their minds. Anyway, with that said, enjoy the story (if you can really call it that, it's so short).
Description: A short oneshot about what's on Hiruma's mind, namely his team.
Disclaimer: I do not, and probably never will (but a girl can hope), own Eyeshield 21. I weep.
To be honest, I didn't know what was going to happen.
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get permanent members for the Deimon Devilbats. Musashi had left, leaving Kurita and I alone. There… wasn't a lot hope left between us. Players from other sports teams could only carry us so far; I knew that we didn't stand a chance of making it into the Christmas Bowl without regular members.
Like I said, there wasn't a lot of hope left. We'd been at Deimon for a year, and no one else had joined the team. Our second year wasn't shaping up to be any better.
But the day I saw Sena run, I knew. I knew I'd get my team. No matter what.
Why was I so sure? Fuck… I don't know. He's an amazing running back, of course. And in the beginning, that's all that mattered. But when he played with us, when he helped us… I saw something in him.
Potential.
The potential to become like Kurita and I: driven; spirited; obsessed. In him I could see that he had the potential to develop that burning flame of hope that kept Kurita and I going. But most of all, despite what that fucking manager thinks, I know, and knew then, that he would never give up.
My whole team- no, all of my teammates are like that. They will never give up. And that's the whole reason that they're all permanent members of the team.
Habashira Rui once asked me what the difference between us is. There are a lot of differences, but none of them matter. The only thing that matters is that our teams are different; mine has heart. Mine has spirit. Mine has courage. Mine will never give up.
That's a promise.
YA-HA!
