It was a completely normal Friday morning. Beckett rolled out of bed way too early and gave Castle a kiss promising to see him later at work. She shuffled around his bedroom, their bedroom she corrected herself mentally, getting dressed and shut the door quietly behind her.
At the precinct she found Ryan and Esposito talking quietly until they saw her and immediately jumped apart falling silent. "Hey guys. We got a body?" she asked hopefully.
"Nope nothing. Looks like paperwork again today" Ryan said quickly.
She shot them a curious look wondering why they were acting strangely but then again they were always weird. "Where's your boy?" Esposito asked as she settled into her desk.
"Sleeping, he was up late uh writing." She said her face reddening. "He should be here later. Why?"
"Oh no reason just wondering." He said averting his eyes from Beckett's questioning gaze.
"What's up with you two today?"
"Nothing." They both replied entirely too quickly.
"Yea, sure" Kate shot them the glare that was usually only reserved for Castle when he did something particularly stupid. "Okay well I'm going to go downstairs to grab some files from robbery. Larry and Moe try not to do anything dumb while I'm gone."
"I think I look more like Curly." Esposito yelled as she got on the elevator.
"Bro, she knows something is up." Ryan said nervously picking up his phone and dialing Castle's number. He picked up in one ring. "Mama Bear is asking questions, over." Ryan whispered into the receiver.
"In route, ETA 20 minutes, over." Castle replied taking the two coffee cups from the smiling barista.
"10-4 baby bears have got your back, over" Ryan said hanging up the phone.
"Man, did you just call us baby bears?" Esposito said hitting him in the back of the head.
Ryan shrugged, "Castle said its code, he worked with a truck driver for Derrick Storm." Esposito just rolled his eyes.
The elevator doors opened and Beckett walked out holding the files from robbery. Esposito and Ryan quickly busied themselves on their computers, avoiding Beckett's penetrating glare as she sat down at her own desk.
A few minutes later the elevator dinged again revealing Castle holding two coffees grinning widely. She couldn't help but smile as he made his way over to her. "Good morning" he said handing her the coffee. She noticed his hand was shaking slightly as she placed her hand on his around the cup.
"Hey you alright?" she said looking concerned.
"Yea I'm great." He said releasing his hold from the cup and her hands.
Beckett went to take a sip and then paused when she realized there was something different written on the side of the cup. Holding it up she read what was obviously Castle's scrawl: Kate, Always? She looked up slightly confused and found that Castle was no longer standing in front of her. He was kneeling reaching for something in his pocket.
"Rick" she whispered almost dropping the cup.
"Kate Beckett, will you promise to let me bring you coffee everyday for the rest of our lives?" he asked opening the small box, his hands still shaking.
Blinking back tears she threw her arms around his neck. Castle not expecting this nearly fell over, but quickly recovered wrapping his arms around her waist.
"So is that a yes?" Esposito asked clearing his throat loudly.
"Yes." She said pressing her lips to Castle's as cheers from her coworkers burst out.
"That's a yes to the marriage thing too, not just the coffee?" Castle whispered into her ear.
"Yes, but I'm holding you to the promise about the coffee mister." Kate said poking him in the chest.
"Oh don't you worry Mrs. Castle."
