We were fighting and we were winning. I looked forward to go back home soon. Then I saw something I wasn't expecting.
„Kili!", I screamed as I saw him fall, protecting his uncle. I didn't love him but I cared for him. And this care distracted me. I didn't saw the orc swingin his sword in my direction. I didn't noticed it until it pierced through my flesh, impaling me. First I felt nothing but then there was pain. I sunk to my knees, my eyes were wide open. The orc pulled the sword out and made an attempt to swing it again, aiming at my head but an arrow prevented it from killing me. Instead it killed it.
„Tauriel", someone screamed. I didn't know who.
„Tauriel", the stranger said again, this time from right beside me.
The last thing I felt was someone lifting me up the ground as my vision started to blur. I couldn't grasp a clear thought.
„I am dying, aren't I?", was the last thing I heared myself whisper before everything went black.
I woke up, feeling empty. I felt like something was missing. I opened my eyes.
„Good you are finally awake", a woman standing beside the bed I laid on said. I tried to sit up but a searing pain in my stomach made me stop. I cried out in pain.
The woman gently pushed me back down on the bed.
„Where am I?", I asked weakly.
„You are in Mirkwood. In the house of healing to be specific. I am Leona, your healer", she said but she didn't smile like I expected her to do.
„How do I got here?", I asked: „The last thing I remember is..."
„You were out for a couple of days. For two weeks if you want to know. Our prince carried you to a healer on the battlefield and you stayed in the camp for the injured for a couple of days. But now you are here", she took something from the table beside the bed.
„Drink this", she said and handed me a cup filled with a green liquid. The healer helped me sit a little and I drowned the whole liquid. I felt better after it.
„Soo.", I said after I had laid down again. „How am I?"
„We were able to save you. Your wound is healing but ,Tauriel, we weren't able to save your child. I'm sorry", she looked at me with pitiful eyes.
„Child? What child?", I asked, confused about her words.
„Tauriel, you were pregnant", those words shattered my world.
„Leave", I whispered and she did without another word. I didn't cried. Instead I was lost in my thought. Why didn't I noticed it? I should have. Did Legolas know?
I knock tore me out of my thought.
„Come in", I said, shaking my head. I didn't bother to sit up.
The door opened and Legolas walked in.
„Tauriel", he whispered and sat on the chair beside my bed. I turned my head to look at him and he took my hand in his.
„Amin mela lle", he said and kissed my lips.
„Legolas, I ..", I was about to say but he interrupted me.
„Shh. I know. It's okay.", he hushed me.
„But I lost our child. Your child", I whispered and felt tears running down my cheeks.
„Tauriel-"
„Amin hiraetha. I should have known. I was careless. It is all - ", I was about to say but he put his hand over my mouth.
„It is not your fold, Tauriel.", he said firmly and I believed him but my tears didn't stop falling.
„What can I do to make you feel better?", he asked, his eyes full of worry.
„Hold me", I breathed and made space for him to lay down beside me. He laid down and embraced me, careful not to hurt me.
I buried my face in his tunic and cried. I cried over the loss of my unborn child but I also cried over the loss of a good friend. He would always be in my mind. I would never forget him.
Amin mela lle – I love you
Amin hiraetha – I'm sorry
